Preliminary figures indicate the 1.6-liter EcoBoost, which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, produces a stout 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, roughly on par with the similar Volkswagen Polo GTI. Ford says that power is enough to rocket the Fiesta ST from 0-62 mph in 7 seconds, and to a top speed of 135 mph. That's a tick slower than the Polo (0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds, top speed of 142 mph), but impressive nonetheless.

It's basically my Si in a smaller and tighter package. I call it a win! These new ST models make me happy. Now the greener side of me wonders where the 3 cylinder will be for the commuter snorefest?
I would look into the Fiesta or Focus later. Very cool things happening!

Kinda strange that Ford didn't take it to 200hp to be more on par with the Civic SI. But this is one hatchback that I would LOVE to own! Performance when you want it, probably corners like a gocart and will be inexpensive as well.

Since Focus ST has 50 hp more than Civic Si, I don't think its fair to expect the same base price. Focus ST will most likely cost close to $24,000, like other hot hatches (Volkswagen Golf GTI, Subaru Impreza WRX ...).
