Nice little three seater diesel hybrid in the spirit of the GR-1
designed by Freeman Thomas who worked with Chrysler
there is a lot of Firepower(BELOW) cues!

ohhhhhh man...
sweet dude! thanks for the heads up. That's like... my dream car!! I can't believe we aren't seeing more diesel electric hybrids. People keep saying, "man, hybrids are lame, too expensive, diesel's the way to go!" But who says they're two competing technologies, there's absolutely no reason not to combine them.

Can't wait to see this car.

OK, I'm a bit confused. Is that a pic of the Reflex or a Firepower? I'm pretty sure that's the Firepower since you can see the Chrysler emblem on the front. Did you post it as an example of what the Reflex will look like?

Why'd i have to hear about this on new years day when all the stores are closed and i can't go look at the picture?!

(edit: hehehe.... 999th post. I shoulda done this last night at midnight, woulda been more approriate. i suppose that'd be a pretty sorry way to pass new years though, although it woulda meant less of a headache now)

Is the Reflex based on the upcoming Volvo C30? Sure looks like it . . .

autoblog's got a short thing about the reflex a little ways down on this page:
http://autoblog.com/category/detroit-auto-show/

its got a 1.4L turbo-diesel, gull wing doors, two seats up front with a single seat in back surrounded by cargo space. And they point out that you can see the three bar chrome grill lower down on the face.

Gorgeous car!!! And I love the diesel idea. Its the way to go

I'm sure it makes our resident tree-hugging Canadian (Jeff) happy.

And I mean that with the most sincere respect.

hahaha... thanks buddy, it does make me quite happy. With the new regulations coming into effect this year for clean diesel, i think cars like this will definitely be the way to go. The turbo diesel and the electric motor get awesome low end torque, with the two together it'll rip off the line. The 2.0L diesel in the BMW 1-series gets 250lb-ft at 2000rpm.
I can't wait to see some specific numbers for this car. 65mpg is incredible, and i'm guessing it'll offer much better performance than the insight. Like, i'm gonna guess at maybe sub-8 second 0-60, as opposed to the 10+ seconds for the insight. Plus, check out those looks!

Diesel's have a TON of potential. VW's Twincharger system is really neat too. I do like the gas/electric technology but I think the diesel technology is more of the way to go.

you mean diesel/ELECTRIC. That's the problem, not enough people recognize that there's nothing tying hybrid tech to gasolene alone. We can combine both diesels and hybrids to get INSANE gas mileage. Which is exactly what this concept is doing. The Mercury Meta One concept last year, basically the mercury freestyle, also had a turbodiesel/electric.

Yes I meant diesel electric. Although diesel itself is pretty darn good.

that thing looks pretty cool, and the technology like that has got to be the way ford heads in the future if they want to stay alive.

I always wonder why the ones that are environmentally friendly have to look ugly, but this is cool. I think it could use an extra few inches in length on the front though.

I like the potential of this concept, but wonder how much will make it to a production model.
(A lot I hope.)
