At least with the hidden headlamps, and usually fairly standardized light sizes, you could replace them with some excellent Hellas or Cibies, along with cheap, replaceable H1 bulbs for both excellent light output and optics. Most headlamps today have rather mediocre optics at best, even if the light output can be cranked up -- kind of like having a big gun that doesn't shoot straight. I put a set of Hellas in my '94 Probe GT, pop-up lights and all, and the resultant headlight were awesome. I could set small bushes afire from a 1/2 mile away on high beams yet the pattern cutoff was sharp enough to shave off of, i.e., no pissed-off on-coming drivers.
Back to topic: I wish Ford would do some retro Pantera, a bit like they did with the Ford GT but down to an affordable price point (<$60K) to serve as a true halo car to go up against the Vette and Viper. That new Stratos interpretation, too, is an indication of a classic '70s design done right for today.
I think the early Panteras, especially, were classic designs before they got all pimped up in the '80s stylistic dross. Give my a clean, unmolested '71-'74 any day with a strong running Cleveland 351 rumbling away behind my neck.

Slightly off-topic, but what's with all the EU "Pedestrian Protection" mandates?! Are there THAT many pedestrian's getting whacked by cars these days??
Oh- what size are the rear tires on these Pantera's? Any way to mount 'em on a Mustang?
