I was just browsing through and saw this thread didn't have too many posts, so I'm here to make sure the '65 Galaxie is not forgotten. The reason I drive a Mustang now is because my Galaxie's engine caught fire- suspect faulty wiring, long story- anyway I'd thought I'd post a few pictures of her back in her glory days. She's in the garage right now, and will rise again...

i love that car...and im still bitter at a classmate for referring to it as the epitome of an old man's car <_< ooooh, not good thing to say around arin lol.

I also had someone call it a "grandma car" once
They sure got a mouthful from me. Sadly, its almost like the forgotten muscle car. But hopefully I can get her on the road again soon so people will remember!
Oh, and the engine is a 352 cubic inch V8- all original

It was and still is a lifelong garage kept car. A neat bonus that came from buying from the original owner was all the paperwork that came with it. I got the original window sticker, shop manuals, owner's manual, sales brochure, dealership paperwork, etc. He also gave me a service and maintance log book that he kept religiously from day one.
I plan to hang on to this car for a couple of more years and then sell it and buy a new Mustang.

, I also got mine from the original couple that bought the car and it is definitely nice to have the owner's manual, maintainence logs, etc. I'm sorry to hear you're going to sell it - make sure it falls in good hands. As much as I like my new Mustang, they just don't make 'em like they used to. :worship:

Before my first Mustang, and before the '68 Falcon, there was this '65 Galaxie. . .
It had been poorly repainted by an uncle of mine, so it looked like heck. The vinyl roof was gone and the top had been painted white, So white over dark blue.
It also had the 352, and even though it had been poorly maintained, would still go like a scalded dog.
If it wasn't for the sticking throttle issue. . . driving that beast back from a new years eve band gig, went to pass a slow mover on Canal Drive - nice long straight piece of road.
So I put my foot down - and she wouldn't release! I had quite a ride for a few moments as she rapidly climbed toward 100mph. I had to kill the engine and coast to a stop. Fiddle under the hood in the dark at 2am.
Big, Big Car. You could put all of Zimbabwe in the trunk.

I've got this 67 500 XL (390, 4bbl, 4 speed) from my dad. He was the original owner. It sat from '75 through the late '90s with blown freeze plugs and a leaking radiator. He started to get it road-worthy again and it was until it popped a hole in the hard brake line under the body last October. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif[/img]
I just got a complete set of SS hardlines to do the whole thing but it sure is a pain to get to them all. I think they made them so they are more easily accessed with the body off. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif[/img]
Can't wait until I've got it on the road again!
