Autocrossed a Focus ST for Free

Thank you Ford

I wasn't sure what to expect when I signed up. But it was worth the time and I had fun! They gave us hats, water, Rockstar energy drinks, a video of us in the new focus commercial. And the best for last. I got 2 practice laps on a technical, non timed practice track. Then 2 practice laps on a little faster pro track. Then a third and final lap to see what you got. All laps are timed and I did my best lap on my second try 29.8. The best before I had left was 28.5. So, I wasn't to far off

All you have to do is register and show up. Ford did a great job with this promotion! They are doing 4 more event along the east and west coast. Go have some free fun With someone else's car.

There was a 13 GB Boss there too. Not sure whose it was. Anyone here?

This was the only lap my wife videoed. It was my third and final lap. 31.7. I tried to push it too hard and went slower. I forgot that slow and smooth is faster than fast and sloppy. Still had fun though

seriously? absolutely nothing in the southeast? 2 in California, one in the second worst city in the US, and the other two are in Boston and NY.

I really badly want to drive one of these, but I'm not traveling 9-10 hours to do so

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's worth 9-10 hours of driving.

I'm signed up for the event in Boston. I wouldn't be surprised if you can't even sign up anymore since the events are probably full.

Today was busy but not packed. I guess it all depends on who saw the promotion, if they are close, and think its worth going too. I was lucky, It was about 30 minutes from me.

The seats were comfy leather recaro's like the Boss. The steering was tight and the car felt light and balanced. I did not like the clutch. It definitely was as not as strong as the Boss, nor does it need to be with about 250 hp. they told us to shift to second before the green flag and leave it in
2nd. The car had plenty of torque in 2nd for the course. Im sure they didn't want people destroying the clutches.
It had plenty of pep. I won't compare it to the Boss, its in a different class. I could see it as a DD, for some people. Not for me, only because I like something with 4 wheel drive for our North Eastern winters.
If it was a car rental choice, I would pick a mustang, buy I'm biased

They wanted everyone to be in second b4 passing the green flag. Which started the course timer. It was about 20 feet after they tell you to go.

running an autox course in 2nd isnt that unusual. The courses are generally laid out so tight that theres no need to shift.

I'm signed up for the DC event, but no details yet. Did they send any information ahead of the event?

Great - I have the one from registration, now waiting on the one before the event.

Think they might let me have one lap in my Mustang?

I don't think so, but it won't hurt to ask

So did they let you sit in the cars and play with stuff? Like get in the back seats and all that.
