I'd like to think it's replacement would share it's underpinnings with the '15 Stang

Those are all small numbers to cover expenses of importing Falcon from Australia. It's just not worth the trouble for selling maybe 20,000 units.
Plus Ford already has a full-size car (Taurus) which sells about 3 times better.

Point is though, Mustang is going to remain RWD, so Ford is currently investing in that............so why not pool resources and use the underpinnings for the next-gen Falcon in Australia and use it for a RWD Taurus replacement in 2016. You can spin a couple of Lincolns off it too! Erveryone's a winner!!
That's what I'd do. Now, someone get me a job on Ford's Board

Did anyone watch or see the movie I posted a link too?

I know we have the Mustang and they have the Falcon, but the Falcon could easily have replaced the Fusion and we here in the states would be ecstatic and we could have both a Mustang and a Falcon in our driveways. For those folks down under I know some feel the same way, bring the Mustang down here for us, we want them too!!!

Fusion is Ford's 3rd best selling car ...
Why would Ford replace it with much larger and heaver car that's nowhere near economical as Fusion (and gas prices are close to $4.00/gallon again)?

They could offer it with certain drive lines, at least the styling would be there. I like the Fusion but isnt the Falcon the same size as the fusion or is it close to the Taurus? I thought for sure watching them race they were fusion sized cars...
Ok then, Fiesta, Fusion, Falcon, woolah!

Its much cheaper to build Taurus since it already shares platform with few other Fords and Lincolns (Flex, Explorer, MKT, MKS).
Falcon is just not cost effective, it doesn't make sense to bring a completely new car that doesn't share anything with the rest of Fords for maybe 20,000 units a year. Ford would be losing a lot of money on each one they would sell.
I like Falcon too, but that would be a financial disaster for Ford. Ford is finally stable and they can't gamble again.
