Advice Needed:New F150; Which One?

I need a new stable mate for my Boss. Wife's vehicle, but I drive it most of the time...

We currently have a 2010 Avalanche LTZ. My wife wanted to add CAI, Corsa Exhaust and these really helped performance, especially low end. She put Black wheels on it, to match the black paint and had to have the gold bow tie, painted black. I just wanted to share what kind of features we like.

I'm looking at new F150. My daughter works for Ford, so D plan is set.

I'm looking at either the FX2 with graphics package, etc. or the new Limited.

I'm intrigued with the EcoBoost, but I'm partial to the 5.0.

Most all I talk to are really sold on the EcoBoost.

I need some help. All opinions are welcome.

Thanks.

I would stay away from the EcoBoost for now. I've been reading that the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 has a well known problem with moisture build up in the innercooler after driving for a while.

I would go with the 5.0.

I've got the '11 5.0 F150 4x4 screw. I think it's pretty badass. It gets about 11.7mpg city/hwy on 33's with E85. And about 16.5 on 87.

I picked up a Boss intake manifold for it. I'm gonna tune it and figure out a way to make my stock intake tube work with the boss IM.

My Dad has a '12 4X2 screw Eco boost and he likes mine better.

He's in Texas, I wouldn't call that a high humidity area. That problem is supposed to be high humidity area with extended periods of cruise control.

But you will be happy with either the 5.0 or the ecoboost, both are fantastic engines.

I know everybody is so excited by the ecoboost but I wouldn't. Stick with the V8 in a full size pickup. I hear the 5.0 in the truck is nothing special but test of time I'm thinking the 8 will last longer.

I was extremely hesitant about the economist. I mean it's a 6cyl truck (granted-it was boosted).

And then I drove one. My father purchased one and after hours of ridiculing him I finally took it out. I was floored. More than impressive during daily driving and towing.

I would definitely test drive it. That mPg is hard to beat.

Limited is only available with the ecoboost so that may factor in your decision. Platinum is a very nice package and you can the 5.0. I also like the king ranch myself.

Yeah I'd like the mix of the ecoboost good mileage + plenty of torque when you need it, but I want to see how many last long past 100k.

Look at the problems the 5.0 had the first 2 yrs...

I'd get the ecoboost for the few dollars more. My dad has one and can't keep his foot out of it. He still gets good mileage and I've driven in on a long trip. It passes traffic with ease. My dad had to tell me to slow down that its not a Mustang

There is a huge price difference between the fx2 and the limited. I personally prefer something with 4wd. I'd look at an FX4.

- You can get the 6.2L in the FX2 models and higher now, so that might be an option for you.

- Raptor doesn't qualify for any A, X, D, etc plans. ..but it can be had for close to invoice if you're willing to order, wait, and maybe travel to get it.

UPDATE:

We made the decision, and thanks for all of the input.

1. I'm part owner of a 2011 Raptor; so we've driven it and for our purposes, mainly a DD, we decided on a F150.
2. Test drove a Eco Platinum for a couple of days and really liked the performance, it's a blast to drive. This is mainly my wife's vehicle and she likes a truck modded up, including the Exhaust! She liked the Eco, because she thought I was racing her in the Raptor and she pulled away from a stop sign and couldn't believe the torque. Its was funny.. Plus she wants her truck as loud as my Boss, she even asked about side plates.
3. When she found out that the Eco really couldn't be made to sound like a V8, that was it.
4. Test drove a 5.0 for a couple of days and we decided to get it. Originally was looking at a White FX4 to match the Boss, but she saw the Platinum Interior in Black Pecan and got sold on that.
5. Platinum 4X4 Black/Pecan 5.0 2" Readylift Level, Magnaflow Dual SIDO; Recon Smoked tail lights; 20" Fuel Kranks, Nitto 305/55/20.
Love this truck and thank God I have a wife who is not into Prius, etc...
