'89 Taurus Becomes SHO-Ranchero

http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2012/01...-ranchero.html

A 1989 Ford Taurus SHO was modified by the owner to look like a smaller pickup, a la Austrailian ute, but with a rear truck access rather than a traditional pickup bed. The seller is looking for $2,400, but so far the bids have been pretty scarce.

If the owner wanted a truck, should have bought a truck. Cut the roof, but retain the trunk? "Ur doin' it wrong"

Poor little SHO

I'd have given my left arm for a SHO back in '89.

Your left arm? You don't value your left arm very high.

Well I'd need my right to shift gears, and some other stuff.

Should've put another engine/tranny in the back.

Really wish they would have done an SVO successor with that motor. IMO a SHO Mustang would have been pretty badass.

if they had put the sho 3.0 or the 3.2 in a v6 mustang that would of changed the game back in the 1990's.

A rather crude job. He didn't know how to reshape the back for a tailgate so he left the trunk lid, leaving the car useless as a truck. He left the rear doors in place and then only filled in the top of the seam. The car was not repainted afterwards so the work to fill in the top of the door seam and where the door handles were is clearly visible.

Someone with the metalworking and auto body skills could complete the conversion properly. However finding a person with those skills who wants such a vehicle bad enough to finish another person's project properly is slim and none.
