72 Gran Torino Sport!

Need some help here..... It just dropped into my lap, but its hard to justify another project car... I think I can grab this for $3000. It has a freshly built 351C, with a C 6 tranny. Its all gutted inside but no rust anywhere. Really have wanted one for a long time... UGH...

I love that! It is epic! There is so much potential with this find!

That is a 1972, not a 1971. 1972 is the first year the Torino abandoned the uni-body and went to a body on frame design like full-sized Fords. The 1972 is unique in that it was the only year of this body style to not have the huge chrome park bench 5mph front bumper. Fastbacks of this body style were only made from 1972-73. They dropped the fastback after the 1973 model year.

This is definitely worth purchasing and finishing off!

Had one, with a 351. After I dropped a valve, I swapped in a 429. That was 25 years ago. I think there is better support now, and have seen a few go for decent money on eBay. Check for rocker rust and the trunk floor. If it's rust free, I would jump. Not great handler, but a cool ride. Look for a Q code in the VIN, as thar means it was a Cobra jet motor (best available in 72). Some cars had a handling package with a rear sway bar and stiffer springs.
