Another pretty awesome/in depth video. I gotta stop before I have one on order. LOL

It may be Internet rumor but I read in a couple of sources that they let it slip that there were definitely gonna be 2 engines in 2018 for the raptor and maybe even for job 2 of 2017 and that while the 5.0 NA was going away in the regular f150s (that's right no more v8 of any kind in the half ton trucks) that the raptors second engine would be the long awaited 5.0 ecoboost

I have been really watching this develop. Love to have one, but the V6 kinda killed it for me. I too thought maybe we would be getting the 5.2L voodoo motor tuned to a truck. The V6 pumps out a bunch of power and the video of it flying across desert scenes looks cool. I too priced it and it is too rich for my blood. Especially when it has a V6.
Have been toying with maybe buying a 2014 with low miles though. Not sure if i want the fuel mileage that one offers. 11mpg might be painful.
I will watch this and see if they budge on the V8 option.

Looked at the Super Duty at the auto show today. For the same money, I think I might do that instead and build it up. There's a company that does SD - Raptor conversions too...

I don't know where and why people ever thought that the high-winding 5.2 would ever make it into a truck, especially something like the Raptor.
My only thought was that maybe they'd do a twin-turbo 5.0, but after seeing that the V6 Raptor does 0-60 in 5.2-5.3 and the 1/4 in 14, I think that's plenty quick for what it is.
And with a tune and some mods, I'm sure that engine can easily deliver 500+ crank HP and 600+ crank-tq. Factory ratings are 450/510.
As far as that 6.2 '14 Raptor, 11mpg would be downhill with a tailwind.
Most mpg reports I've heard from owners of those trucks mentioned single-digits.
I would so absolutely rock one of these monsters ... maybe even one of each, a 40"-tire version and a 46"-tire version ...

Also, Car and Driver's most current issue puts the Raptor at 0-60 in 5.0 flat. The performance is nothing to sneeze at. The upgradability is nothing to sneeze at. It's the fact that it sounds like a hopped up vacuum cleaner, like every other EcoBoost other than the Ford GT. That's the problem.

That "might" be the option that makes me go order one. LOL

But, I agree Patrick. That sound of the truck needs help bad. I'm sure the aftermarket will be flooded with exhaust options.

Yeah,....that's insane! I would never pay ADM or the first year model either. (Some have a 5K ADM. I guess if I had the money and it didn't matter, I would get one just to be the first in the area to have one. )

But honestly, I wouldn't drive that around, not my style. lol I think it's on the ugly side. But that's all "my" opinion. (Unless I was into crashing dunes and stuff, which I am not.)
Can that truck even be driven around town looking like that? I don't think it's legal on the roads, is it?

Nice Torque Charts on ford.media...
The new EcoBoost Raptor has LESS Low End Torque and so also less HP below 2000 rpm that the old V8 Raptor and the Competition
Its all about marketing...

So is this how they keep the ADM fees up? Build them and ship them out of the country. No wonder they are hard to find.
