2011 Ford Super Duty power, towing specs released
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/25/2...pecs-released/
Heavy duty truck lovers have been waiting for these figures for a while, so let's just cut to the main course. The 2011 Ford Super Duty can be had with two engines: the 6.2-liter gasoline-powered V8 found in the upgraded SVT Raptor, which puts out 385 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, or an all-new, Ford-designed 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8 producing 390 hp and a pavement pummeling 735 lb-ft of twist (at 1,600 rpm).
The latter engine in the F450 is able to tow some 24,400 pounds and has a maximum payload of 4,920 pounds. The F350, which is the closest competitor to the Chevrolet, GMC or Ram equivalent, comes to the fight with 21,600 pounds of towing capacity and 6,520 pounds of payload (if you're curious why the F450's maxium payload is less than the F350's, check out this explanation half-way down the page). Each engine is mated to a 6R140 heavy-duty TorqShift six-speed automatic transmission.

I cant wait for these to come out. I cant wait to see everything that they are talking about in person. Eventually I will be getting one just wanna wait a couple years after they start the production of the new 6.7l and see how well they hold up and what problems they will have.

I expected for 6.2L to be the most powerfull petrol engine available in any truck.
However, it's still one of least powerfull. Ram is awailable with 5.7L & 390 hp, Sierra and Silverado with 6.2L & 403 hp, and even Tundra (5.7L & 381 hp) is not that far behind.
I'm impressed with diesel engine.

According to Chris Brewer, Ford Super Duty chief engineer, the Super Duty's power and torque output are lower than the Raptor's because,
"The main reason is that when the truck goes over 8,500 pounds [gross vehicle weight rating], the SAE [horsepower and torque] rating method changes," Brewer said. "We can't get the same horsepower and torque out of it [like we can in the F-150].” The 6.2-liter V-8 in the Super Duty also uses a different camshaft from the light-duty version, which, some may recall, is the same approach Ford uses to make 500 hp in the FR Raptor XT version of the 6.2-liter V-8."
