I think 2006-2009 Fusion is very underrated when it comes to fuel economy.

Its rated at 20/28 mpg and I always get at least 26-30 mpg city and 35-42 mpg highway (depends on the speed) with my Fusion 2.3L.

A 4 cyl manual trans 2010+ Fusion is on my short list of family sedans to consider in the next year or two. Bolt on a few fun parts from Steeda and it should make a nice family car, trip car, and commuter car for the wife. Hard to go wrong for around $15k or so.

Thats almost as good as the Focus. I wonder if the manual car gets better mileage yet.

On my short list too, but they are over $20K.

Ford has announced pricing for the new 2010 Fusion. The fuel-economy leading Fusion S with the six-speed automatic transmission features a base price of $20,870, plus destination and delivery charges.

Fusion also offers more engine choice than Camry and Accord, with two V-6 engine options – the 240-horsepower 3.0-liter flex-fuel V-6 and the 263-horsepower 3.5-liter Duratec V-6 engine. The 3.0-liter V-6 models start at $23,760.

The base price of the all-new Ford Fusion Hybrid is $27,270.

Remember these are the "new" EPA figures.
Anybody can beat the new figures if they just drive really easy on the throttle.

The auto is over $20k MSRP, but the manual trans 4 cyl Fusion stickers for $19,270 which is what I would get, I don't do autos. I can also get X-Plan pricing, and if there aren't incentives right away, they will likely be available soon after they come out. I have a local dealer advertising 2009 Fusions for $14k, no way I'd pay over $20k (or anywhere close to it) for a minimally optioned manual transmission 4 cyl Fusion. I'd either buy a used earlier one for under $10k or be looking at something else if over $20k.

Great job Ford. Now all we need is for people to have money again so cars can actually sell.
