IMO that's a good thing. I can see some fairly obvious differences in the front end, but nothing as drastic as some of the renderings suggested it might be. I like the current 2006-08 Miatas, and I'm happy with how the new ones will look. A new (or used 2006-08) Miata will probably be one of my next cars.
Is it smiling at me?
I like it. better. improvement.
Definitely sharpens up the Miata's looks a bit from the rather bland current model, and also ties it in a bit more thematically to the rest of the Mazda lineup and design language.
Still could use some more beans in the coffee -- whadabout sticking in a version of the MS3's awesome little motor, now that would really put the Miata on the map as a serious sporting piece to be reckoned with by all manner of Caymans, Z4s, 350Z and even Stangs. R&T is getting 260hp and 295 lb/ft at the wheels from their MS3 with a few minor factory add ons (CA intake and sport exhaust) numbers that are approaching 4.6 Stang GT territory!
