Tru'dat, on another note, it seemed to me that when Ford was doing pretty well in the 80's-90's it seemed like they had two types of vehicle for just about every model they made, The base car and a sporty model;

1. Mustang/Mustang GT/SVO Mustang/Cobra
2. Thunderbird/Turbo(Super) Coupe
3. Escort/Escort GT
4. Tarus/Tarus SHO
5. F150/Lightning
6. Probe/Probe GT

Hell, I think you could even get a Tempo GT, and this doesn't include the offerings at Mercury and Lincoln (super-charged Cougar and Mark VII, or the Merkur XR4Ti)

How did they lose their way, and what was so wrong about offering this kind of range in thier various models?

With the exception of the Mustang, where are the performance variants of F-150, Focus, Ford 500 (err, Tarus), Fusion, etc.

I'm not talking a ***** to the wall effort like the GT500, but look at the GT Mustang, take a 20k secretaries car and turn it into a well rounded performance car for a modest increase in price and a Mustang GT is what you get.
