2008 F-450 Pickup! 24,000 pounds!

This is a BIG truck... and the super duty looks are starting to grow on me. The tail gate step thing is pretty smart too... aging population...

They aren't introducting it at Paris, their introducing it at the Texas State Fair later today, with Toby Keith in concert. Man that thing just looks mean!! Way better and way more distinctive than the new GM trucks.

I'm still somewhat put off that they didn't put more of the Art Deco Super Chief looks to the rest of the exterior. The front is growing on me as well, but the sides and tail look far too generic in comparison.

Grade-A interior, though.

wow... thats a... thats a big truck

maybe im just new to diesels but this is pretty impressive to me:
The 6.4-liter Power Stroke ® Diesel delivers 350 horsepower at 3,000 rpm and 650 lb.-ft. of torque starting at 2,000 rpm
it also mentioned 362 hp for the 6.8L V10... anyone know torque on that?

The reason the lights are that low, is that they match up with the height of passenger cars headlights, and they won't blind you when coming towards you, or behind you at a stop light. There is a picture on Ford's website that discusses the headlights. They're actually the same height at the Fusion headlights. Its a good idea. I hated when tall trucks are behind me at lights. Their headlights are high and shine into the car, and its a bit bright.

i think the headlight thing is pretty interesting. I mean, the person buying this car isn't the one benefitting from the low headlights, strictly speaking. Of course you could argue that person might have another car and will get blinded by somebody else's F-series... Maybe people in general like to think of the impact they're having on society as a whole, and ford has realized its a good seller to convince people they'll have a low impact if they purchase their products.

I'm very disappointed we haven't heard anything about a hydraulic hybrid set up, though. You'd think they'd want to offset the bad environmental publicity attached to a 8500 pound pickup by offering some kind of fuel saving technology. I guess its just not ready yet. Hopefully we'll see something when the new F-150 comes around.

Is it me or is the taillights similar as those of the last 5 years only with the reverse light on top.

Yeah, i saw the tailights and thought ok they're pretty different, but closer images show that they pretty much just reversed the backup lights. A little cheap, but at least they did something (recently Dodge didn't modify their tailights on the new model, either). Can't wait to see or drive the 6.4L...the 6 was a jet, I can't imagine the new one, and they're saying the new turbos (1 small, 1 large) will trim a few seconds off 0-60. Insane.
Also, I'm pretty sure Ford's gone with the same concept as dodge..when you pop the hood the grille is attached to it. Don't really like that. One thing I really like is the electronic mirror fold/telescope/adjust, and the fact that the truck has functional side vents, because after all these trucks do work extremely hard when they have to.
