1974 Pantera

Hi guys, long time no see! I have a legitimate question and thought of you guys first.

I have a friend who knows someone with a 1974 Pantera with a 351 Cleveland in it. Supposedly in great to excellent condition, and in working order of course. But they don't know what it really is worth. (A widow inherited the car form her deceased hubby) She's had it for years and is curious what she is sitting on. Someone low balled a quote to her but sounds like he is trying to steal it for the amount offered. I won't say, so that I can get a true idea of the car's worth. Sadly I don't have any pictures to share.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I've been peeking at them and some others that specialize in them. I've seen averages around 45,000 to 47,000. Some low ball ones with no pics and no idea if the even work going for around 33,000. Also some high ones 60,000, 75,000 even 80,000. But average I see mid 40's. Offer was a good 18 grand short...

If you look at NADA price guide puts the average price at $46,600.and low at $32,300.which is up about $4,000. from a year ago but from what I've seen alot depends on area and ofcourse the condition of the car I've been told not to sell mine for under $45,000. but I can't see it going for more than $40,000. to $42,000. if I'm lucky

Still a heap better than the 26,000 offered. She has 3 guys drooling over it and just wants to know a fair price to ask for it. Obviously these guys are trying to get it for a steal... she could get a bidding war over it, or scare them off completely, who knows?

If it's in good shape no rust good trans ect. min. I would let it go for would be $35,000.

It all depends on condition.

I am surprised by the prices I am reading here. That's a dramatic increase from when I last priced panteras. Only the best ones were around 45K at the time as I recall.

Pantera prices are all over the map. To describe a car as a 1974 Pantera offers no clue as to what it is worth.

It could be a $5000 car or a $35000 car or an $80K car if it heavily modified from stock and is pristine and runs like a bat out of hell.

Do you know the last 4 digits of the VIN#?

I can do some research on the Pantera Registry for you.

I don't have all the specifics, but know the friend of the owner who has seen the vehicle. I trust him when he says it's in excellent condition, mechanically and visually. I'd say she should try to get them up to $40,000.

Condition is a huge aspect of the selling price, and to some lesser degree, how unmolested it is, or, if molested, how well done. Pantera's fans for some reason aren't nearly for absolute factory spec purity as most other collectible cars and will tolerate a much greater amount of mods than, say, a Ferrari buyer.

That all said, the $50K mark should be a good starting price for a really nice Pantera with no real issues. Pristine versions and one with the rare well-executed mods may fetch well above while some beat up or cheesed up may well fetch well under $10K.
