A 1964 Fairlane Hits Nurburgring!

This was posted on a local Mustang site by "winner70ta" and thought I would share! It is fantastic!!

This is RAD. Some schmuck got enough ***** and cash together in order to get his Holman Moody prepared 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 to Germany. The final goal? Attack Nurburgring.

Now, typically when you watch in-car “Ring” videos you hear small displacement motors with lots of valves screaming in a high pitched tone while you watch the driver smoothly caress the car through the track. It’s a ballet of sorts.

Mere words cannot express the level of awesomeness witnessed. So just go with some of these Would have been nice if there was also footage from the outside of the car as it lapped the track. Would hate to be on that track and seeing that filling the mirrors coming at full throttle!

This is how a simulator should look, btw, not low to the ground like they usually are.

Oh, and badass(tm)!

Forza 3 for xbox 360 has in car view or a hood view to race from. I perfer in car for the realism, whipping my 2010 GT500 around the 'Ring.

That is really cool video.

This is the car...

And I came across this quote from the driver. It was posted in the forum of the original link...

"The video you refer to is of a 2009 race and NO, it was NOT a regularity trial, we do love the American cars and try to beat the Europeans which are much lighter and some of them indeed seem to be tied to a lamp post. Speed on the long straight called Döttinger Höhe is 266kph (166 mph) (slightly uphill). Time around the Nordschleife is 8 min 10 sec.

A new video will follow of the 2010 Oldtimer Grand Prix Historic Marathon (3.5 hrs or 500 km) which we did not only win against strong opposition but also did the fastest practice time (pole position) as well as fastest lap of the race.

More to follow!

Regards

Barney"

The Historic Marathon race at the 38th AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix (13-15 August 2010) was won by Team Classic Driver’s 1964 Ford Fairlane. The drivers, ‘Fred’ and ‘Barney’ from Griesheim, secured victory on the challenging Nürburgring circuit after a thrilling duel with the Jaguar E-type of the Gotcha Historic Racing Team, taking first place at the end of the 3.5-hour race.

Seems like alot of envy there (although I see the OP was wrong)?
