1961 Ford Thunderbird

I'm looking to purchase one and any advice is welcome.

I test drove this one today. It's a original Wisconsin car which sat outside for years and was fully restored in 1982. Engine and transmission were rebuilt in 2008.
Mechanically car runs great, no issues there.
My big concern is body. For one, it's a Wisconsin car. There are few scratches and dings here and there, front windshield needs to be replaced (which is $1,000), and I'm pretty sure there is some rust under the paint above rear wheel on passenger's side. Interior is ok, normal wear & tear.

Asking price is $11,000.

Like I said, any advice is welcome.

Looks pretty good, make sure you get a good look at the underbody of the car, that's usually where most of the rust is.

For $11,000 it is worth getting it to your preferred mechanic and letting them see it. It's worth getting it up on a lift and eyeballing it hard.

If it's clean enough, enjoy it! If you start to find "secrets" you will have to decide the walk-away point. Or, perhaps those secrets, once revealed, will allow you to negotiate a much better deal.

Good luck!

Chrome is ok; showing its age, but nothing that needs to fixed right away.

My father has a 62 Thunderbird he's had it as long as I can remember all original 390 with working power locks and windows original steel rims with dog bowl hubcaps very nice paint only thing is the dash has started cracking. He's had offers much higher than that from his car buddies "bunch of old guys" so like they said above look it over well a little surface rust never hurt so don't be too critical but don't be easy point things out and try not to sound too excited
