Vin # help!

So I'm looking to get some Borla stingers with the bassani offrode x pipe for my 2003 gt vert. It was asking if mine is a 2v , 3v? Is there anyway to tell exactly what mine is? Would that be something that I could tell through the vin number or is it year and model specific?

Cobra is a 4 valve and so is the Mach. 3v's came out it 2005 S197 cars. The Mach and the cobra are not the same motors but both 4v's.

It would be a great project but idk if i wanna wait a year of saving up
Or i could try and get the 5.0 modular short block. Same dimensions as the 4.6 but has 5.0"L of displacement.

I kind of thought that it was the s197s with the 3v. Thanks for the knowledge guys. What's the difference between cobra and mach?

Yea i believe the blocks are a lil different. Plus the internals in the cobra engine are built a lil stronger, engines comin from ford special vehical team whoch is the performance branch while the mach motor is just from ford. (thats just what im thinkin)

Sounds about right. I believe the cobra internals can handle like 550 while mach is only 400 or so maybe 450

Ive seen stock GT's hit 450 with stock internals. Once your above 400 tho on the stocks then your rlly pushin the limit in gt's.
As for the machs i think they can handle right around 450-500. Thats just from what ive seen

I wouldn't risk a stock gt with 450 tho unless you have money for a new motor around pass 3 or 4 lol.

Haha yea definitely. It can be done but 400 is right about the sweet spot for the 4.6.
