Tranny

I have just bought a '99 GT with a 5 speed and want to know what transmission is in it. I was told that it's a T5 but I have seen other stuff that says it's a T45. Can somebody tell me what's in there? Thanks.

I have a 2000. 99-00 have a t-45 and Windsor heads and block. In 2001 they moved to Romeo. The only real difference from Romeo to Windsor blocks is Windsors came with 8 bolt flywheels,Romeo have 6 bolt and the heads are same but different bolt pattern and oil fill is on opposite side. The t-45 was scrapped in 01 and the t-3650 came in them. The t45 are very similar to a t5

the tr3650 swap was mid year, the early 2001s still have the t45. Just to let everyone know.

But yes the 1999 has a T45. The V6 cars had the T5.

So 2001 was a mid year change. That sucks.

Very good information. Thanks Everett and Knight. I did wonder what was down there and did not know about the differences between the Windsor and Romeo.

For sinisterbullitt, in my case I'm coming from an Isuzu Amigo so anything is an improvement. It does seem a little notchy but I'm getting the hang real quick. I have tried to start a couple of times in third instead of first though. The short throw compared the truck is great and I know that can be improved upon too.

Windsor heads have 13/14 bolt valve covers. Romeo are 8 bolts and the oil fill is opposite too. Be wary of these differences when buying used parts.

The 3650 is a fine transmission, they used it through the 2010 GT. My brothers bullitt with a triax shifts great, its notchy but I like it as you know if you are in gear or not for sure.

All bullitts have the tr3650. I think the bullitt production started with job 2 and thats when the switch occured. Somthing like that.

You need the pedals and tranny from the donor car and I don't think you have to re-program anything. Bolt in. But make sure you take EVERYTHING from the donor car.
