when I am slowing down from highway speeds, which is like 110-115 km/h. as soon as I start applying the brakes, my steering wheel starts to shake. Does anybody know why it would do this? how can I fix it?

sounds like you may have a warped brake disc. they are not expensive to replace (do the pads at the same time) and that should sovle it.

You don't really even need to get to rotors replaced, unless they are warped really bad. Just get them "turned" and replace the pads to match with the new surface the rotors will have and you should be fine. Just did the same thing to mine. Warped the left front shortly after I got her due to some high speed braking. Got the rotors resurfaced and pads and the shake went away.

Could be wheel alingment or worn out bushing.

I had that problem once and the bushings for the tie rods were completly gone causeing my whoile wheel to shimmy front to back under braking. It problay isn't this problem but it could be.

heck with the price of new replacement parts its cheaper to buy new rotors than to have them turned down.

I recommend that if you're going to replace, then upgrade!!! Get drilled/slotted rotors with high performance brake pads!!

Once you've either turned or replaced the rotors, bedding them in will reduce the chances of the problem coming back.

Hey Dan, wanna let everyone know WTF "bedding in" is? I assume its break in, but what's the protocol for somethin like that...run it to 150mph and stand on the peddle?

J/K, I'm being sarcastic...

my dad's F-150 does the same thing, ours is from warped brake rotors, i suspect thats what your problems is too, Buying new ones should fix this, and while your their you should replace the pads too, also this is usually caused from poor break-in practices.

not really,

if you are doing 100mph and brake really hard to a stop, this can warp the discs due to the phenomenal temperatures generated. I always break the pads in gently, and had still suffered with warped discs (only once mind, it is not a common occurence). But as the discs are fairly cheap, and fairly easy to fit, it is not a problem.
