So a buddy of mine bought a saleen 1995 s351r (over the net). Very Nice ride. He bought it spec with the intent of flipping it for a $ as soon as possible. Because he's a perfectionist, it was in the paint shop within 2 days of it being delivered to address some imperfections (boo boos) in the paint on the bumpers.

I'm some interested in purchasing the car, but I'm some concerned with getting it smogged. My buddy no doubt "knows a guy" who can smog it for me even though it doesn't have the appropiate CA smog equipment. That said, I don't want to depend on knowing a guy for future smog dates. Also I'm thinking this is only a temp fun car until my GT500 gets here and I'll want to sell it to someone fully and legally smogged.

Anyone know how difficult it is to get a properly and fully equipped s351r to pass the sniffer portion of the test?

As a note, WHAT A KICK TO DRIVE. I took the car out and it's way more power than anyone should reasonably be allowed to drive on the street. Rolling along in 2nd and you hit the go fast pedal and you're rear is spinning so fast you're bumping off the rev limiter in a heart beat. Definately requires some getting used to. Shift throws are short as heck and the chassis feels like it's made out of unobtaineum (it's a made up metal but very very strong).

Any help from those of you who have owned this car in CA would be appreciated.

It is emissons legal if it is stock, SALEEN had to build every car he sold to California emmisons standards, it will pass.
