For those of you who want to know if they can put S197 wheels on their SN95, the short and sweet answer is "yes." Almost all Fords with 5-lugs have the same 5x4.5 (with the exception of MN12 chassised cars), so they will almost always "bolt-on" if the correct spacers are used. However, there will be rubbing issues if you plan on just bolting them on and driving into the sunset. The most complete kit that I have found to have them truly be "bolt-on" is this kit sold by New Take-Off.

I am not in any way affiliated with said website, but that kit provides longer studs and 13mm (.525 inch) spacers in order to provide appropriate backspacing needed on the SN95 Mustangs.

I have heard that if you want "the look" more than simply to get rid of the spacing issues that 1 inch is what should be used, however I know that those spacers provide the correct amount of backspacing required, and going to spacers larger than that should be hubcentric.

In my very humble opinion, it is not worth it to use 2005+ wheels on your SN95 unless you get them for extremely cheap, since these spacers alone cost half of what almost any OEM wheels go for used. My advice would be to try to find a deal on SN95 specific wheels, and go from there rather than trying to make due with something that wasn't designed for our cars.

 

I agree, adapters work fine, but need to be re-torqued constantly. Plus, American Muscle sells most of the good S197 design wheels with the correct SN95 offset.

 

I just bought this 01 GT vert and installed 06 GT wheels with half-inch spacers and longer studs. I used this spacer kit from ebay. It was by far the cheapest kit, and it worked perfectly.

I only have $364 total invested in this swap, so it was well worth it. The only hassle I had was installing the longer studs. I used 2 washers and a lug nut as suggested. A couple of the studs got cross-threaded while pulling them into place. The nut went on easily, but when I started backing them off, they cross-threaded! I saved one of them, but I had to cut one off with a hack saw and use the shorter stud instead. Be very careful when tightening the nut. If it gets really hard to tighten, back off a little and then keep tightening it down. You will have to repeat this several times. Do NOT force it too much!

would 7/16" spacers work for the front and back of a 2001 gt? wanting to put 05 gt 17x8 bullitt styles. and will the lug nuts be long enough?

 

The spacers should be okay. The 1/16 difference is negligible. The stock lug nuts for the bullitt wheels will work fine, but do NOT try to mount the wheels without putting 1/2 inch longer studs on the car. It's not worth the risk of a wheel flying off on the road. Also be sure to re-torque the lugs after you drive it a few days.

Man I would just avoid that completely. Just find a set made to fit your car. Definitely not worth the trouble.

I've always toyed with idea of putting bronze wheels on my 99. In a few years it may become a reality. But I would love to see yours with them
