Out of the rubble - 2000 Cobra R #33

If you notice anything out of the ordinary about this picture, not only are a couple of SVO's thrown in the mix, but also one of the lowest produced mustangs to date also took place on the ride produced by the April 27th 2011 historic weather event that rocked much of the Southeast United States.

Ben's 2000 Cobra R, number 33 built out of a total of 300 was safely tucked away in his garage when the massive storm came through his Georgia neighborhood.

The old adage of saying "things can be replaced, people can't" holds true in this case, as his family were all safe and sound after the storm, but his stable took a definite hit. The car was picked up shortly thereafter by Paul Becker (svopaul of TMS) and brought back to his shop, SVPUnlimited (www.svpu.com), where they specialize in classic and late model ford restoration and customization. As you can see by the pics below, the car was in desperate need of some good southern tender loving care.

Well the part of the saying that things can be repaired or replaced is definitely the case here. After alot of research and phone calls, Paul and the SVPU team were able to produce authentic Cobra R replacement pieces for the repair process of the car. No copy or clone parts went into the process, which is exactly what everyone wanted from this rebuild.

Stay tuned as a full length article will be coming shortly on #33, including video, high res photos and also more information on what actually has changed on the car

As it sits now on 4/27/2012, one year after the storms.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Yeah, Ben is a very close friend of mine and I'm still so very glad that he and his wife made it through the storm with no injuries. But it also made me sick that his beautiful rides took such a hit.

Paul and Jason at SVPU do fantastic work and their attention to detail is why I continue to be a loyal customer!

Ben, I'm glad they're coming back to former glory and can't wait to see 'em on the road again!

Yep, the teal car beside the R is his '93 Cobra. Paul's Teal SVO is the one further back in the picture with part of the garage laying on it.

Wow what a bitter sweet weekend. The one year anniversary of the F4 that came from Alabama and hit Ringgold,Ga. A lot of memories from last year came back this weekend. If you have ever been in a natural disaster, you know what I mean. But thanks to good friends, like Paul, Jason, Patty, Michelles friends, our children, and several more good friends, we got thru that weekend last year. When Paul called and said the R was done, on the one year anniversary, and asked if he could take the car out to a get together and the local cruise in, I said yes and I am on my way. I gotta tell you, this old man shed a few tears when I saw "Tiger" sitting in the shop. All new and shiny once again thanks to Jason and Paul. The new off road Bassani exhaust was installed and I took her out for a spirited drive down the road. It had been over a year since I had that wonderful experience of driving that car, hearing the exhaust and seeing that hood/front end of the car lift up once you hit about 4500 rpm. Words cannot describe the love I have for my family and friends, and as Paul has reminded me several times, "Ben you are part of the SVPU" family and always will be. Thanks again Paul, Jason, Patty and Matthew. As stated earlier, Michelle and I learned that stuff doesn't really matter. What does matter is having friends who care about each other.

Ben
