Off road pipe
Off road pipe
Hey Guys
I have a 95 gt 5 speed and I'm looking to remove the cats and still keep the stock cat back. Can I just buy a off road that will work or just knock out the guts of the stock cats. I think this will free up some HP and also give a better sound has anyone done this? will this set a check engin lite?
Thanks.

I don't think the cats are hooked up to the computer in any way, so you should be safe that way.

94-95 models are OBD-1 systems and don't need mil eliminators because the O2 sensors are in front of the cats and there are no O2 sensors behind the cats, the rear sensors are why the 96-present cars need mil eliminators ,and the check engine light will not come on as long and the small pipe that comes off the pipe is hooked back up to the smog pump. 96-present models are OBD-2 systems and require mil-eliminators or a tune to keep the check engine light from coming on. My check engine light stays on only because every bit of the smog equipment (smog pump, carbon canister, and all the lines and hoses )is thrown in the woods behind the house
