Longtube headers, angled steering wheel?

So I got longtube headers installed. Now my steering wheel has a slight angle towards the driver's side of the car. Has anyone else had this issue?

Somebody bend the steering linkage during installation or loosen it and tighten it in the wrong position?

That's kind of what I thought. It's like if I sit lined up perfectly with the steering wheel it's slightly pointed towards the center of the car. Grrrr!!!

Longtube headers, angled steering wheel?

When I put my header in I locked the steering wheel and marked the slip joint on the steering shaft and made sure the wheels didn't move by putting them on tall race cribs

It was only necessary while the steering shaft was apart

On my 09 my rack was keyed in a rectangle the only way to put it back was exactly how it came of or 180 degrees out. Not sure what your rack setup is on the 99 but id bet its either bent a little or the toe got knocked out somehow to get that small amount off. Did you loosen any other suspension components or have to coerce the shaft back on? Also could be worn suspension parts somewhere that got agitated by all the disassembly. Id start by checking for loose/worn components and if that doesn't narrow it down a lot of shops will do an alignment check for free. My ranger had that issue when I put the headers on check your clearances around the shaft itself.

I had a shop install the headers. It's not an alignment issue, the car drives straight just fine. It's the angle of the steering in relation to the driver's seat. I'm thinking either it got reinstalled incorrectly, got bent somehow, or they left it at a slight angle to get through the header.

Oh ok I see what your saying. Yeah I'd have to say it's slightly bent then but if it's a result of their install I'd take it back and make them make it right.
