IUPain in the butt!
These IUP pedals have been a pain.....the dead pedal was the easiest, and it still sucked. I'll give some before and after photo's in a few posts. My question is the accelerator pedal. I haven't started, but I know it's going to be a job in itself.
Here are the instructions.....no photos of course:
Remove Stock Pedals:
Remove the stock accelerator pedal by removing the accelerator cable form the top end of the accelerator pedal assembly. Remove the two 13mm nuts that hold the accelerator pedal assembly to the floor and remove assembly from vehicle. Using a punch and hammer, drive the pin that holds the plastic pedal to the metal assembly out of the plastic pedal, stopping before driving the pin out of the metal assembly.
Installing Bullitt Pedals:
Install the Bullitt accelerator pedal to the stock metal accelerator assembly in the exact same way the stock pedal was attached. Drive the pedal retaining pin through the mounting hole on the back of the Bullitt pedal securing Bullitt pedal to accelerator assembly. Re-install accelerator assembly into vehicle and tighten 13mm nuts. Reinstall accelerator cable.
Any advice on removing the accelerator cable, metal pin, and pedal. I'll drop some pics as to the problems I'm having.
If any of the pics aren't clear, please let me know. I'm guessing the 2 - 13mm bolts are the red colored bolts that are in the 1st photo.
I think the part that worries me the most is the accelerator cable. I'm not sure how to remove it without breaking it, and how to re-attach it.
Has anyone done this before or can anyone give some advice to make this as smooth as possible. Thanks!!!!

Did you order the assembly or just the pedal? If you look at the picure you posted asking about the punch you will notice the bolts at the top and bottom of the bracket. Remove them and the pedal assembly will come out. The accelerator acble is held in a fork at the top of the accelerator arm, after you remove the bolts it will be easy to slide out. Here is the hard part if you purchased jus the pedal you will have to punch out the pin that holds the pedal to the arm (not the arm to the bracket). Then put the new pedal on the arm and replace the pin. reattach the cable and bolt the assembly down. If you purchased the assembly just replace the assembly and you are ready.
i actually just did this a couple days ago, and the hardest part is definately the accelerator. the last reply about the bracket is dead-on; just be careful with the throttle cable. at the top if the accelerator assembly is the forked part. holding the cable in the fork is a black conical piece is plastic. use a small screwdriver to carefully and slowly pry the plastic piece towards the back of the car. once it pops free, the thinner section of the cone will fit through the fork's opening. the assembly will easily come out now.
also, a word of advice when trying to remove the pin. i tried the hammer and punch and it didnt work too well. instead, i used a large pair of slip-joint pliers. i placed the one side of the mouth on the protruding end of the pin, and the other side of the pliers next to, but not on top of, the head of the pin. if you have enough leverage, it will slide out pretty easily. Good luck!

Do you guys think I could cheat the system and dremel off the plastic parts of the pedal then pull the pin out, and replace with new pedal.

i cant see any reason why you couldnt do that unless you had some reason to save the stock pedal. i actually used a razor to cut the last plastic piece off of the old pedal because the pin wouldnt clear it. if you use any kind of power tool to cut it off, just be carefule not to touch the pin. its such a tight fit as it is, any gouges or scratches would make it impossible to remove.
Yea......I dremeled off the old pedal. Now I just need some light and time to pull that pin out(probably next weekend).
My other option is to dremel off the pin.....then run a screw with washers and a nut rather than the pin setup. I think either one will be successful, it's just a matter of getting that pin out now.
