Ok,

I'm finally gonna get 2 consecutive days off(first time in 3 months). I need help regarding installation order.

I have a mid-pipe and some sub-frame connectors that need to be installed. Will the SFCs make my *future* exhaust installation more difficult?

I wanted to do a gear swap(possibly 3.73 or 4.10s), that being said I kinda want to upgrade to 31 spline axles. Once again, should I do this before I do the SFCs?

I'm kind of wondering if I should keep the stock housing(being that I'm looking at new gears/trak-lok/bearing rebuild/axles), like before this will affect the order of installation.

So to make things easy:
Exhaust before SFC?
Gears before SFC?
Keep stock rear end housing?

Well, I dont thning the SFC should affect your others install too much, but I'm only guessing, so please correct me if Im wrong. If you look at the picture here, you can see the black SFC run outside of the exhaust, so it doesnt look like the mid-pipe installation or gear swap would be affected by the SFC. Most subframes dont interfere with the exhaust at all. Now the kenny brown extreme matrix kit does acctually have pieces that connect the 2 sides together, but all other ones i've seen are not a problem. If you are going with the full KB kit, you'll have to pull your exhuast off at the time of installation, so do it both then.

Oh and on the subject of gears etc.. you can install them at anytime. Also your stock housing is good, just have the axle tubes welded up while you have everything tore apart

Ok, I wasn't sure if the rear end needed to be lowered during a gear installation.

Not true, I that the full Matrix bracing and the Subframes are actually closer to the exhaust than the Matrix. In reality you don't have to drop the exhaust for any of the KB bracing.

Next chance I have the car up on the rack I'll snap a pic of the entire set up!

Matt, do you have the X-Brace part that connects the two subframe connectors together? At least thats what I think it does.

I don't have a brace like that, but I'm not aware of a KB part that does that. The Matrix bracing is what connects the SFCs to the Jacking rails.

I'm gonna be at Pauls tomorrow and I'll ask him about a x-brace.

Here is a pic of my KB set up, you'll see the Subframe connecters on the inside, then the Extreme Matrix (angled bracing) the the Jacking rails on the outside. As you can see these have no effect on exhaust.


Scott as for the X-brace you mentioned, there was not one for the mustang but KB did make one for the camaro.

Ah ok, maybe thats where I was remembering it from. I know I surfed through all of their site when it was available.

If they did make a X-Brace for the stang it would have to sit below the exhaust, talk about an already low point. I'd love to see how it worked under the Camaro.

How could you make it sit below the exhaut?

That would make the car almost undrivable unless you have perfect roads. You would spend less on tires though however you would need to convince yourself that the sparks from the rear were normal.

Thats my point, it would almost be impossible on a Mustang.

I love it already....got it installed today. I'm holding off on the SFCs.

Before the MRT-H, I had stock headers & H-pipe(with 2 cats cut-off) and a generic exhaust.

It was really drone around 40-50, the MRT-H really lowered that drone, and the exhaust has some tone now. It's not just a loud whine.

Next up......Borla!

Wahoo! About time. Did you install yourself? Think I will just drop my car off and let someone else do it. Get those Borlas installed. Want to know if it is the business.

Well the problem I had was the header bolt was really on there really good(even after spraying the bolt with oil multiple times). I took it to a shop so they could get it on a lift and get more leverage.

That bolt was really stubborn took them a good 30 minutes on that bolt alone.
