I think I broke it

I think I broke the mustang... Put the new tires on today (274/40/17 from 245/45/17) and after taking a left on the way home I heard a violent clank/clunk noise from the rear. It sounds/feels like the LR tire when it happens, and tends to happen accelerating around corners. It also happens occasionally in a straight line. Its definitely coming from in/around the rear axle. Thoughts?

Sounds like the spider gears may have lost a tooth or few teeth. Does it do it going slow turning left of right?
Go ahead and do a 5000 rpm clutch dump and finish it all off LOL

I agree about the spider gears

Had the same symptoms in my Bronco and when I opened up the diff there were teeth from the gear missing

It does do it when I corner slowly, to the left. Now I guess I'm going to have to start looking around for new spider gears

Just open the differential and look around mine had teeth laying in the oil in the bottom It's a good enough reason to change the gear oil and this way you'll know for sure what's going on

The only problem is that I've got no place to work on the car. I moved to an apartment and the definitely dont allow any work to be done, other than changing bulbs/wipers, and im not sure how my boss would take it if I ask to borrow a lift on my day off.
