Well, if you can wait a little bit, I can tell you, because the exact same thing is happening to me. I'm going to take off my door panel and check it out, but it's supposed to rain until Wednesday here.

Are you getting any kind of movement out of the switch when you push the unlock button on the remote? Also, will the door unlock if you pull the interior door handle?

I actually think it is the electric device/motor in the passenger side lock going bad, but I'm really just guessing at this point.

Once I know something, I'll take pictures and post it.

WD40.

I started my car a few months ago and closed the door to go back inside the house. I had locked the keys in the car with the engine running. I went back inside to get my spares. Tried the remote but no response because keys in ignition.
When I tried the keys in the door lock to my horror it wouldnt turn. Panic set in for a few moments then I thought the process through. I never ever use the key in the lock just like everyone else, why would we? It had seized.
It took a little force but it turned.
Sound like a similar situation for your locks. Spray a little WD in the lock (watch the paint!) and it should work free.
Best suggestion for the remote problem is that it also has seized. You will need to remove the door panel to reach it but I believe this should solve your quandry.

And now the power lock on the right side is not working right either. The door will unlock if I lock it manually and use the door handle...I don't want to spend a butt load of money to just get it checked out if I can get it diagnosed online. Let me know what u find out!

Tammy,

What you are saying about the power lock on the passenger side is exactly what happend to mine....once in a while it'll go up...but after a couple weeks of hit or miss, it just goes dead.

I'll check it out as soon as possible and let you know. Hopefully if the rain lets up tomorrow, I can do it then. I agree with Tricky about the WD40 on the drivers side, that can't hurt.

Tammy.

Sorry it took so long, bad weather around here....I checked out the power door lock on my passenger side and if you are having the same issue that I am....it's the motor for the lock that is going bad and needs to be replaced....

That's the bad news, the good news is, it's pretty easy to fix, if you have a Haynes manual. I'm going to find out how much the part is and I'll let you know. It only took about 10 min to take off the door panel and watershield, but that's because I was reading and really taking my time to be careful.

when I have some more information about the price, I'll let you know.

I'll have to disagree with you all on that one. I have the same problem on the driverside of my 95. The problem is the door lock cylinder lever has broken off. The PN for the LH side is F3LY-6321971-A. I bought one today. Its a little white plastic bit that actuates the lever for the lock from the key. It costs $11.34 @ Ford.

Good info Anrev, the only thing I'd need to to describe is if it's the same mechanism on the passengers side as it is on the drivers side, because the passengers side on the 2000 Mustang doesn't have an option to unlock it with a key.

Do you know if this is exactly the same part or not?

Thanks!

And no, I haven't heard anything...I've kinda been living with it, but it's really getting under my skin. I went on a business trip last week and with the holidays coming up, I haven't been spending as much time with my girl as I would like.
