Exhaust time

Ok guys I need some more help. Currently I have Stainless Steel Flowmaster American Thunders installed on my GT. I am thinking that i want to free up the rest of the exhaust and then work on the intake. Sounds to me like I should be looking at getting and X or H pipe and headers is that correct? I do have to worry about emissions since I live in Delaware so I think offroad pipes are out. I hear shorty headers are basically a waist of money so I'll be going with long tube headers. Any suggestions for a long tube header and mid pipe set up that will work with my flows?

I feel like I've already killed you with useless info. on this so hopefully other people chime in. I would not go long tube unless you're absolutely set on it. Long tubes can cause problems with clearance, along with possibly needing a custom mid pipe, and you also have to take the headers off to do tranny work i.e. new clutch (not always though, depends on the header). I would go shorty (not a waste of money in my opinion) or mid length headers.

Here's what I've always understood the differences to be:
H-pipe with baffled muffler (flowmasters) will give you more low end grunt and a classic muscle car sound.
X-pipe will net you with the power higher in the RPM band and give you a more exotic sound.

I would also suggest shorty headers for the same reasons harristotle posted above. The benefits do not outweigh the annoyance they will likely cause.

Thanks. I know you gave me info in another thread. I was just making its own thread to have more ppl chime in. So shorty headers still flow well and will work with most mid pipes? What are some good brands to look at for shorty's?

Shorty's will flow noticeably better than stock. The 80's and 90's are especially responsive to bolt on's. They should hook up to any mid pipe as shorty's are designed to improve flow while still maintaining the factory location for the collectors (someone correct me if I have my terminology wrong), so as not to require a custom mid pipe.
Don't have any knowledge on a good brand for you though, sorry.

I would go full Bassani....mid-length headers, high-flow catted X, catback.

I know it's a Mach 1, but the 4v and 2v don't sound THAT different...this is my ALL time favorite exhaust clip, and this is the exhaust my car will have when I get the Termie motor in there: http://www.streetfire.net/video/2004...back_64608.htm

Oh and, note the whine from the SC haha. It sounds like a Procharger/Vortech though.
