Question Cobra Gas Mileage?

This might have been discussed before and I am sorry, this might take forever to track down so I just posted this instead.

For those with SVT Cobras, I wanted to know if anyone was getting better than the estimated 20 mpg highway. I don't really need the nonsense about fuel mileage as the 2011 GT was what pushed me back into the Mustang category with the 26.

Looks like I might not be able to foot the bill for one for quite a time and wanted to know if it was still worth looking into an SVT Cobra for a while? Yeah, fuel mileage is a concern as I drive 82 miles daily, a little city, mostly highway. I live downtown so I do have to deal with that.

Thanks everybody!

I get in between 19-22 MPG on every tank of gas. They are pretty much all a 50-50 split between city and highway. Around town it's mostly cruising, but I also usually give it a good wind up once or twice a time I take it out. And I'm usually doing 75-80 on the highway (Co. speed limit is 75). This last tank I went to Loveland and back and am down to a quarter tank, I'm anticipating getting a little over 22 this time, and that tank was mostly highway with an average speed more around 70-75.

It's probably worth noting that I've got an exhaust, intake, throttle body, and MAFS which should theoretically help mileage, but I've also got 3.73's which would also hurt the mileage.

Yeah, if I could find a somewhat gently used 03-04 and somehow get about the same mileage as my 335i, I coupld possibly swing the fuel costs a bit.

Otherwise I guess I can shame myself into an RSX Type S.

my GT gets 26 on the hwy, so I'd guess somewhere around 20 for it.

Keep in mind that the 03-04 Cobras have a luxury over the older 93-01 models. The last generation Cobras had an all important 6th gear. My modded 03 Cobra (chip, tune, pulley, cold air kit) gets about 23MPG mixed city and highway. This is a tad bit better than my stock 1997 GT with an automatic transmission. For me to achieve those MPG numbers you have to lay out of the boost which is hard for 03-04 Cobra owners. When trying to conserve fuel on longer drives I skip gears... its not always fun but you can actually get surprising results.

Just a reminder any Cobra requires PREMIUM FUEL!
