Cloth Vs Vinyl Top

Cloth Vs Vinyl Top
So I just noticed my top may need to be replaced in the near future. My buddy suggested I upgrade to the cloth top like on the terminator cobras. Do these look that much better and are they worth the extra money. Also a dumb question. Most convertibles get the wear marks or cracking by the rear side windows. Is cloth less likely to crack vs the vinyl. I guess I would spend the extra cash for that alone as cracking looks bad. This car never sees rain or snow and is always garaged if that helps!

They both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Cloth looks better, won't crack, and is more flexible in cold weather. But it is more difficult to care for properly. You have to be aware of any cats around as they like to dig their claws into it. And you have to be careful not to park under trees that might drop sap on the cloth.
Vinyl cracks over time, light colors can mildew, and they don't look as good as cloth, IMO. But they are easier to care for.
When it was time to replace the vinyl top on my S197, I went with cloth. Glad I did.

Well you got me sold on cloth. If they do not crack and are more flexible I am in. Its so funny how my top reminds me of a boat cover. If anyone has any pictures of parchment or saddle in cloth please post some pics!
