Question Bought an 02 & need some remotes..will this work?

Hey guys I bought a 2002 Mustang V6 to drive to work & school to save some miles on my 05. All it came with is 1 key. I downloaded the owners manual & it says that you can program your own remotes. Should I be able to purchase a pair off ebay for like $20 & program them myself? Or do I just need to suck it up & go to the dealer. And does anyone know approx what it's going to cost to have a 2nd key made?

Thanks guys.

Here ya go:

When I had an extra key made it costed somewhere around $75 because the key has a chip inside it.

Thanks for the video. And thanks for the estimate on the cost of the key. I knew it had the chip so I knew it wouldn't be cheap but $75 is actually cheaper than I was expecting. In fact anywhere south of $100 would be cheaper than I expected. I think for now I'm just going to head to wal-mart and have a couple of cheap keys made (at least then I won't be terrified of locking the only key in the car) & order some remotes from ebay & program them myself.

Do they need to be new remotes or can they be used remotes? I'm kinda guessing that as long as they don't work on that exact car then they can be re-programmed to work with it, so used remotes would also work as long as it's a ford remote......yes, no, maybe?

Any remote made for your car will work, new or used...but I can't remember if you have to have two working keys to program a remote or not but I know you need two working keys I program a third. Some walmarts sell and cut transponder keys now too for about $60

A used one will work. I programmed a remote from my mom's old '99 mustang for my '04.
