aftermarket hood on the bullitt?
So...
Arin has posted in his thread in the list of wants the shaker. but he also recently saw a carbon fiber 2000 Cobra R hood for less than the shaker kit.
So I'm debating. Should I get the shaker kit, or the 00R hood? or should i stop being a dimwit and leave my bullitts hood stock
Shaker (bullitt on the bottom right)
Shaker with mach hood
Cobra R carbon fiber
I also took petes strut tower brace today and tested it on my car. it ALMOST fits. With a little bit more hood clearance and some minor tweaking, I could MAKE it fit. This is where the appeal of the '00 R comes in, because it gives just a little bit more clearance without going to a full on cowl hood.

the cobra R hood's appeal is negative weight and the increased clearance for the strut tower brace (which is important when converting to coilovers, which I plan to do)
The shaker's appeal is COOOOL!!!! as well as more clearance when i eventually get the Mach 1 hood and not just the applique
I really shouldn't have included stock since ven if i dont spend dollars now on a hood, I'm eventually going to change it to one of the above

In that case, I vote Cobra R.
Much better (meaner) look on the SN95 than the Shaker. IMHO.

not right away, but thats because of money. i do like petes idea of partially painting it
Look at Evil Capri's Mach 1. The center section of the hood is blacked out but the edges that are flush with the fenders are orange. It would be like that. The flush edges would be DHG and match my fenders but the center section would be exposed carbon fiber. It would all be clearcoated though so that it would be smooth to the touch
it would also look good with THIS grill delete

That hood has always appeared to me, but the 00R appeals just a littttle bit more
I also did some reasearch and I wont have to buy a brace like pete's 94's and mod it because apparently the 99 cobra brace from MM fits right in. It will cover the sticker, but I can always relocate it

Gary has always loved this car
except for the 4.6 fender badges and now that I look at it I don't care for the shaker popping up out of the hood. I love the '03 Mach 1's but I think the Bullitt needs something a bit different. So I vote for the '00 Cobra R hood. I like the idea of the carbon fiber left exposed in the middle of the hood and the DHG as you've shown. That with a grill delete. Now I have always been a little wary of the wheels you want, I don't think they go with this hood. I'd think you need some satin powdercoated black wheels or something but the 2000R hood is no brainer to me.

Just put the sticker on top of the brace.
Now that I've looked at that picture all night of that Bullitt with the shaker, I think I like it better... But only if you're going to get a Mach 1 hood, not the stick on thing... It's just not the same... "/

I've been leaning more and more to the 2000 Cobra R setup. The shaker will cost more initially, and even more when i switch to the Mach hood.
The R is less money up front, i still have the ability to use a CAI, and it gives me more clearance underneath should i need it (I ended up finding a strut tower brace that fits)
I'm still unclear on wheels since now that I know I want the 00R brakes as well, I need to upgrade to 18s. So neither the bronze SVT anniversary wheels, nor anything pictured in this thread will ultimately be used. I would loves some BBS RK plasmas, but then again who wouldnt
