XM instead of Sirius

Has anyone found an XM module that will replace the factory Sirius Module. I'm sold on XM -- am unhappy that Ford doesn't offer a choice and want to find an XM module that will work with the Shaker 1000. I've got six months of "free" (meaning paid for in advance) Sirius to find the solution -- then I want my XM back. I've looked through the threads and haven't found this so far. Anyone done this mod? Any ideas or suggestions?

Don't waste your money, XM and sirius are merging. You already have the Sirius equipment...

I also already have XM subscriptions for everything else, like XM and will be really surprised if DOJ ultimately approves the merger. IMHO the Government is not going to let XM and SIRIUS create what amounts to a monopoly. If the conversion can take place easily -- say e.g. the Pioneer XM module can be connected up -- I'll spend some $$ to get XM. If they merge, I can always swap back if I need to. Thanks for the opinion -- but I'm looking for XM!!!!

I have ordered this and I am going to install it this weekend I hope. Depends upon the weather. Looks easy and you can use XM with your radio.

I have a subscription with XM for 5 years, so all I need to do is transfer the account to the new reciever. I like XM too and love it. If I can install this and use it with the existing radio then it is a plus.

This has been floating around rumor control for over 4 years. If and when it does occur which company's equipment will become obsolete, XM or Sirius? Since I got my MP3 player I'm listening to XM only for the traffic reports. XM did an injustice to Gator fans by broadcasting only seven of their games this season and all of these were on network TV. They didn't broadcast any of the pay-per-view games.

Are you sure that XM made the choice to only broadcast those seven games? The school and the conference have a pretty major involvement in negotiating broadcast rights. I don't know anything about XM's agreement with the school (and I have no affiliation with the company) but there's always a possibility that the school/conference only gave XM permission to broadcast those seven games.

I called Sirius last week, because I have the opposite problem (got XM, want sirius), and they said it should be done by the first of the year

It sure would be nice to see the merge and use all the existing equipment, which I am sure they will. Then we can get Sirius staions on XM and vice versa. Sort of a mix and match of both services. REALLY would be great if they share the SPORTS channels. That would be awesome!

My understanding is the old equipment will still work and XM and Sirius will have the same programing. New recievers will be branded what ever the new company is called.

It will be interesting to see if the information is correct and the merger clears government scrutiny. If that happens, what they originally announced is that you'll have several packages available initially including the old XM / old Sirius / Everything and maybe some sort of pick-em kind of service. Prices for the "everything" package will be more. I'm thinking that I may go ahead and pre-purchase for a longer term -- say 2 years to beat the price increase -- just a thought.

Good Idea, I have two radios. One is already on the 3 year plan the other has about 6 months and I may just upgrade them both to three years. I am sure the price will increase.

For all those worrying about an Monopoly in Sat Radio, I wouldn't...its struggling as it is now with both companies trying to out do one another and killing each other finacally in the in the process.

Plus its not like you don't have other choices when it comes to listening to music in a car or whatever...you have CD players, iPods and FM/AM Radio to listen to.

I have a friend that works for XM and the lastest she heard was Feb of next year.

They are also planning on new rates, I only listen to the music stations on it, and thats going to be a $6.95 package, much cheaper then what I'm currently paying.
