Wiring Harness for Rear Speakers

I have a Shaker 500 system and will be replacing my rear deck speakers soon (front ones too at some point) and had a question. For you that have done this, did you buy a wiring harness to go in between the existing stock wires and the new speakers or just clip the ends off and wire them direct to the speakers? or is there even a need for a harness?
If you used a wiring harness where did you purchase it?

Also on the front speakers does anyone have any pictures of these with the door panel off or possibly with them out of the car all together. I was trying to see how they are wired in etc. These are two speakers (mid & tweeter) in a 5x7 frame right ?

Sorry searched last night and did not find the answers I was looking for.

Thanks in advance for the info.

If you buy from Crutchfield, everything you need is included (including the harness).

I bought mine from Cruthfield. Everything needed was included. That is the harness and instructions on how to remove the door panel to get to the speakers. The front tweeter speaker assembly comes out as a single unit. Also the replacement speakers will probably have six tabs for the screws, I clips 2 of them off the top and bottom one as the stock locations only use 4 screws and the top and bottom tabs interfered with installation. The rear speakers are a HUGE Pain because of how close they are to the rear glass. And they use TORX screws which is another pain. Becareful in the back or you will scratch the glass.

From my thread on installing rear speakers. Spend the $5 on the harness adapters.

"So Ive had a set of Pioneer 6X8s laying around for over a year, just never got around to installing them.

Well today was the day.

I did a search and loaded up on the necessary info to do the job, backed the car into the shade, popped the trunk, scooted the passenger seat all the way foreward, climbed into the backseat armed with a screwdriver and a short t20 star bit. Pried the speaker cover off, after about 5 seconds, I got out of the car, walked over to the rollaway, got a nice sharp pair of wire dykes and a flashlight. I leaned into the trunk and cut the plastic screw anchors and pushed the speaker up and out of the mounting hole, turned it sideways and dropped it into the trunk along with what was left of the anchors and torx bolts. Took about 3 minutes each side. The new speakers are held in with 3/4in #8 machine screws with flat and lock washers.

As far as Im concerned thats the only way to do a rear speaker removal"

Where did you buy the harnesses from? A local stereo shop or something as basic as BestBuy - Circuit City ?

I guess my real question on the front speakers would be, get
A)Multi-Element Speaker
Attachment 6204
OR

B)Component Set-up like this
Attachment 6205

I am leaning toward the Multi-Element for ease of install, but I am eventually replacing everything, including the HU, and adding amps, etc.

Once again, I appreciate the help and opinions.

Yep, about $5.

Remember the shaker doesnt allow high freqs to the rear speakers, so its a waste of $ to put 2-3-4 way speakers back there.

Hmm, I don't recall anyone listing anything other than at least 2-ways as replacements they installed back there. Am I mistaken ?

Well after going to three places (Best Buy, Circuit City & Jackie Cooper Electronics) I got tired of the blank stares when asking for a speaker wire harness. I even showed them ones they had in stock for other cars and they looked at me as if I were stupid. Hmm I am really contemplating the old snip the ends and ah rd wire theory. Didn't want to do that but no luck finding them so far. try again tomorrow. I guess I will hit the (real) stereo shops next.

I bought mine at Best Buy in Indiana. Talk to the installer. You can buy them online at Crutchfield 13.00pr.
