I'm thinking about satellite radio and hardwiring my radar detector and would like to know a good switched power wire to tap into. Would it be ok to use the radio power wire for both? Or is that too much of a draw to run the radio, sat. receiver, and radar off of?

I know about the dome light, but would rather have the radar switch off like the radio does. Any suggestions?

I tapped into the o/d off fuse in the fuse box, mine is a stick, so it doesn't get used and is switched. I used one of the add-a-curcuit things, plugs into the fuse box, has a wire hanging off of it to tap into. Quick and easy.

Anyone one know how to tap "into the o/d off fuse in the fuse box" has someone done a write up on this, and woudl it be possible to use it for both my 12v radar and 6v XM?

Cars have a 12V voltage system, you cannot get 6V directly from it. You can however get the cigarette lighter power cord and cut the cigarette plug off and hook up the wires directly this way.

Check this out how to get your power source.
