I have a Z2, I like it but have not delt with anything else. Price is about $1500 on line. there is an override avaliable also. Lots of features I don't use and a few I wish it had... ie a bigger clock.

I've got an Alpine IVA-W205 and I think it rocks!

The biggest downside I see with the Alpine is that everything is an option (ie., XM, HD Radio, Bluetooth, GPS, etc.)

There are several on here with the Pioneer AVIC-D3 (and soon to be me, its on its way), and they all love it. Price is a steal if you go onto Amazon (sub $700), or a little more on Crutchfield.

I have the D3. Looks factory. Pictures dont do it justice. The lights can be customized to match the ford green and the silver/chrome volume **** goes perfect with the chrome air vents.

iPod, GPS, and multimedia functions are great. Best bang for buck.

D3 owner, love it..... but don't know how it compares head to head. Great unit though, none-the-less.

The stock speakers wake up with the new HU. I didn't notice it before but I need new speakers with this HU. The new HU makes the shaker seem like... crap(no offense).

I have the base, ie crap, radio. If I swapped for the D3 I assume I would also have to swap the speakers as well or it would be a waste to switch the head unit right?

No your still going to hear an improvement over the stock speakers no matter what. The D3 has so many ways to custimize the sound that even the stock speakers sound better. I have stock for now, maybe around christmas I'll get some infinity kappa's or something.

Ok guys on the D3

What I would like to do is Run Movies on my headrest screens when useing nav. up front? Can this be done on the D3 if I use the Ipod for the movies for the rear?

Can you have the Nav. screen on the headrests as well?

Would the Nav. on the D3 be close to as good or better then the TOMTOM 910 I'm useing now? Or do I have to go up to the Z2 for that?

Are the Graphics as good on the D3 as the Z2? or very close for Mapping and stuff?

Dose the D3 do 3D mapping like the tomtom 910?

Any other info would be great!

Thanks.

Planning on going with the headunit and 2 Pioneer 7" headrest screens.

The guy at the Radio shop told me that you can watch Ipod Videos on the Z2 as well? If so how?

My friend says "kind of". He says that you would have to plug it in to the "aux video" input. Then you can watch, but need to control it from the Ipod. As for audio? Who knows...

I have the Z1 which is exactly the same as the Z2 minus some updated maps. YES you can control the Ipod through the touch screen but this only works for the music. Video on the Ipod would have to be run through the aux input as stated above.

Cobra: (or any others with Z2)

Could you tell me the upside/downside of the Z2? I'm considering getting rid of my factory NAV unit since it won't run my Shaker 1000 (as promised) and has that "speed error" gremlin that won't go away.

I like having the six CD slots as well as the seventh NAV disc slot. I don't like the idea of having to swap out my NAV disc for a music disc (hence I don't want the D3).

I heard that the button lighting was an issue for the Z2 as well as hard drive reliability?

Same thing for the D3. iPod music is donw through the touch screen. iPod video is controlled through the iPod.

Better pic, but can't post it.
