I have only had my felt on for a week... but haven't had any problems here. I'm in Florida... however, I park in a garage at home, and a parking structure at work, so... so far, I haven't had it in the blazing sun all day long to see how the durofelt will hold up. I'm tellin' ya, NOBODY knew what the I was talkin' about when I asked... I went to the Ford dealer nearest me and asked them... the sales guys were ever so helpful....

"the windows are supposed to go up and down just a little when you open the door.".... thanks guys... I'll keep that in mind.

But, they didn't know what I was talkin' about, their service guys didn't know what I was talkin' about, and when I called 2 different places their service dept outsources tint to, they had no F-ing idea either. I called several other tint places, including the one I got mine done at, and they all just couldn't fathom what I was talking about. They all said, "we've done tons of the new Mustangs, and nobody has complained to us." For whatever reason they haven't.... that doesn't answer my question.
Anyways... so far so good. I put on 1" x 1/16" strips.... didn't know how much surface I had when I ordered. the 3/4" x 1/8" might have been a better choice because it's thicker (to keep the goo from seeping through)... but this will doo doo for now.

Yea I had the experience of talking to allot of tint places and was told the same thing. "We have done a few late model mustangs and none have complained about the tint scratching. I installed the felt part of velcro last week and got my durofelt yesturday. I will see how the felt holds up. Here in San Francisco it never gets too hot. But I will look around to see if I find Moleskin. I will let you guys know if I do since it seems to hold up in the heat.

I just ordered my Durafelt. I ordered the 3/4" by 1/8" on Clintoris's word. I am getting my front windows tinted again on Tuesday, so hopefully I'll have the felt shortly afterwards.

I recommend that you try this:

http://www.automoleskin.com/ford.htm

Ask me in about 2 months when I actually get it done how happy I am with it!

yeah.. information that would have been usefull YESTERDAY! or... 2 weeks ago.

I don't know.. I'm ok that I only spent $10 on the felt, 'cause I have a ton of it still... and would have had plenty if I screwed up. I probably would have gone the same route seeing what the moleskin costs, but I reserve the right to kick myself if I get the window goobers.

Even though I already have a roll of Durofelt, I ordered this kit, and I'll decide which one to install next week, when I've seen them both. Looks like I won't get the car before next week sometime anway, it's on the slow train from Dearborn.

Are there any pictures or proof that the tint scratches without felt?

Being new here and with all the tint shops (with scratch gaurantees) saying there are no problems...it sounds like this felt issue isn't really an issue.

Hoops, many people on here have complained about scratches, and my '05 had them also. Others have not had problems. With my '07 I'm going to bet on the safe side and install it no matter what. My tint installer did not install any extra felt on the first car.

That's what I'm talkin' about... most places hadn't heard of it, but they knew of this happening on several different Acuras, (I have a friend with said Acura).... I figured it wasn't worth my time to go to a tint place, leave my car there all day while they jack around on "cooler cars" that are getting a new 73 inch plasma TV put in the seat back , and take time out of someone else's day to shuttle my tubby **** back and forth. I figured $10 for felt (or $30 for moleskin) + 1 hour (including lunch and breaks) = time and money well spent in the name of preventing aforemention scenario from happening more than once.

I had my 05 Vert Tinted when I bought it by the dealership's recommended installer.. after about 8 weeks, the film scratched like it was nobodies business... I took it in to be looked at, and the service advisor called FORD about the problem, and was told "that is a charateristic of the car". He also adivsed there would be no TSB's assigned to that problem. The dealership paid for the film to be replaced, and cost me $25.00 per door to have the felt put on by the installer.. and not a sign of a scratch now (6 weeks later)... So, if you had it tinted from the dealership, you might be able to recoup some $$ by "nudging" the dealership, and get them retinted...

Did you receive this yet? How's the kit? I noticed you can order a 100" strip for the same price as the Mustang kit so I'm curious what's special about the kit. Thanks

My kit came yesterday.

The Mustang kit goves you a 1"x80" piece and directions. It has the adhesive on the back <Peel off>. they reccomend that you cut it in half to 1/2 ".
They also reccomend you get

Rubbing Alcohol
Phillips head screwdriver
very small flat head screwdriver
needle nose pliers
scissors <or razor>
steel wool or sandpaper.

They have pretty much the same pics as Tacobill.

I`ll install it tomorrow when its cooler outside.
****ed 100 degree days.

Well its in. Took all of 30 min.

Found out a few things tho...........

You have to pop off the side mirror plastic bezels <they pop right off>.
Mine has all screws 8 total I believe. All 7mm. No plastic Pins.
Took off all the screws . left the door lock UP!!
Pulled the door panel up and out just `nuff to get to the scraper.
Grabbed scraper strip with needle nosed pliers , pulled up and too me and it slid right out. Scuffed the part i would install with some emery cloth and wiped down twice with 70% alcohol.
Now I found that you have to cut the strip from 1" to 3/4" to fully cover the scraper with none hanging off.
Installed , slid it back in and put back in the screws.
DONE.

How'd the adhesive look? People using felt have complained of the heat melting the glue. I've heard speculation that the glue on the moleskin is better but I don't believe anyone has been able to say for sure. Mike

i work at a window tint shop and to prove/answer possible question or comments you DO need felt. No matter what you hear trust me. The rubber collects dirt and while you roll the windows uo and down it scratches the film. Also you dont need to order felt offline to get anything good. We get ours from our local Hobby Lobby. It comes in a package of a couple of sheets (piece of paper size) and its just felt with a sticky backing. Just measure all you need and use a ruller to keep it straight. Make sure to clean the surface of the rubber with rubbing alcohol, no need to scratch the surface just clean it. If you have any more questions just ask.

Yeah, I had gone that route... lookin' at Hobby Lobby.... well, Michael's actually since there is no Hobby Lobby in Florida, at least the Tampa area, but I didn't want to mess around with cutting my own strips. That's why I held out for a roll. I preferred having 1 solid strip all the way across. If I cut them, there would probably be 3 separate pieces. But.. for those who don't care, it's a great option. I'm sure you can get what ever color you want.
