UPR Satin vs Polished

I picked up a pair of UPR window switch plates at a swap meet last week. I had to ask for satin because all they had on the table was polished. The set they gave me obviously looked duller than the polished ones, so I took them for $40, much cheaper than I had seen on the net. When I got home and opened the package, they were more polished than I really wanted. (Maybe just a dirty package?) They don't look bad, but they're much brighter than my interior door handles. Is there something I can do to dull them? Spray flat clear, buff with steel wool? Ideas?

Visiting Krylon webpage for other reasons, I noticed this product:

http://www.krylon.com/main/product_t...roduct_details

Krylon Matte Finish. It could dull out the shine.

I got the A/C ***** from UPR, satin finish, and they were a little shiny for what I thought I would get. If see this Krylon product at the store, I'll try it out. For about $5.00, you can't lose.

Possibly Dupli-Color has a similar product.

I used lacquer model paint Dullcoat on my UPR Door Sill plates before painting my door rests (thread got trashed in the server crash) and it came off really easy, so If you use the equivalent in the duplicolor or Krylon range your going to run into the same issue.

I have UPR shifter bezel also and it was sprayed with dullcoat also and its starting to come off only after a month or two. I'm thinking about pulling it off and then priming it and spraying it CD silver spray paint I used on the door rests.

If you want photos of my painted door sills, drop me a PM and I'll post them to this thread.

Jim, my suggestion would be to buff or sand somehow and to NOT use any sort of paint. If you have access to a power sander, that may work. I think they may actually look better w/out the ridge on the outer edge. just a thought.

Are all the UPR "Satin" items shinnier than shown on the net? I'm looking for under the hood items in Satin, like MGWs Satin items. UPR has all the items I need, but I don't want shinny... Anybody?

The problem is MGW doesn't offer many items yet. I thought UPr's a/c satin ***** were perfect. However the switch pkates were shiner than I expected. Most engine accesories are either brushed or chrome

Yeah, I don't see MGW offering all the items for under the hood like UPR does. I haven't found anyother company besides $teeda offering these items. I want the brushed, just not too shinny. May just have to wait awhile longer.
