UPR radio knob
I purchased the radio **** from UPR. I thought I was just going to pull the old one off and put the new one on. NOT...After taking channelocks to the old **** I finally broke it and it came off in 2 pieces. There was no just pulling it off. The new **** is solid except for a half moon hole in the back. It does not fit on the stem. Does anyone else have this ****? . As of now I have a broke radio ****.
I also emailed UPR. As of right now, I am thinking maybe they sent me the wrong ****.

hmmmm...Do you have a shaker sterio...Maybe its different on the shaker. My radio is just the standard one. It did NOT just pull off. I had 3 different strong men try before I broke out the channelocks.
I am thinking now that I have a UPR **** with a mfg. defect.

I bought the radio **** back in December. The original came off easily and the UPR went on easily. I did not need any tools for the AC or radio *****.

Don't break it......05stangkc says they do not sell a replacement.
I am going to a local sterio shop and see what they think. UPR said send it back and they will send me another. The new one does not fit tight at all on the stem. It will just fall off.

Does UPR's products match the IUP pretty well?

It matches great in the Satin finish....It just does not fit.
I wish the 2 people that posted that they had no problems with it would have said if they have a shaker sterio......I am kinda thinking maybe it just does not work on standard sterios and the **** was not made to come off.
come to think of it, the first head-unit I had was non-shaker-hella-hard time getting it off, and it took forever for the UPR **** to stay on, but when I swapped it out with the shaker my son didnt have any problems.
After quite a few emails with UPR today I have a solution!!
The one I purchased is missing a black insert that should be in the hole on the UPR ****. They are sending me one today!!

The plain unit has a plastic cased **** that is not meant to removed! Unless of course you use visegrips like I (and many others) did. When you finally get it broken off, you find that it's shaft is narrower than the other.
When I did that on mine, I already had a leftover plug that allowed me to use the UPR ****. I'm glad to see that UPR has a fix for the issue. Now that I have a Shaker unit, it's a moot point.
Incidentally the original Shaker **** needed the plug to fit the plain headunit! Especially since I want to sell it now.
Here are the two units side by side and the Shaker installed and about to be tested. Notice that I decided to go with the round UPR ***** on the heat/ac too.

Thanks so much for your detailed response Chris.
Tell me one more thing....The UPR **** you have, did it have a black insert in the back of it?

So when I swapped the headunits, I pulled the small insert from the UPR **** and put it on the Shaker ****. That way each unit has a **** that fits!
In summary:
Stock headunit - narrow shaft, needs correct new insert (or two inserts like mine) to allow use of UPR ****.
Shaker headunit - wider shaft, UPR **** fits as delivered.
Just an update on my problem. UPR sent me a D clip in the mail that made this radio **** fit perfectly. If anyone else has this problem email them and they will send you one. Thanks UPR, I will buy lots more from them. Their customer service is the best.

I don't like the idea of changing just one **** on this radio. Does not look right, so I think I will pass.
