Okay…I’m looking for some feedback on an idea I had the other day. My car was ordered with the dark charcoal interior package, no IUP, and leather. This is exactly what I wanted, but now that I have had the car for awhile, I am thinking it’s a looking a little monotonous in the cabin. Rather than paint pieces, add carbon fiber/aluminum overlays, etc., I think I am going to go a different route and make the interior a two-tone set-up similar to what you might see in some of the higher end luxury cars out there. To do this, I am looking to swap the seats and door panel inserts with someone who has the medium parchment leather interior.

What do you think? Crazy idea? If not, is anyone willing to do the swap with me?

You might be able to get someone to work up a chop for you - just to get an idea as to how it would look before making commitments to parts and the all mighty dollar. Just a thought.

I'm thinking two-tone interior as well, maybe not drastic, but just two tones of tan (lighter in the center). Maybe aftermarket Classic Soft Trim or Katskin. So I'm ordering with cloth and then upgrading aftermarket. Also shift-boot? Maybe?

Nice look! Interiors look soo much classier with multiple color combos, IMHO.

Holy interior overhaul Batman! That's look great Kevin. I noticed the running pony on the inside of the door, where did you get it, what is it, metal, fabric, decal? How is it mounted? I also noticed some writing on the dash, is that lettering, can you post a picture of it? (see thread "Thoughts on Interior Mods")

I like the idea of swapping out the seats. I've got an '06 on order, IUP, charcoal interior.

thanks! i did the seat swap, because i am a klutzy slob so i spilled a few things on my parchment seats that didnt come out with cleaning..
anyways the Mustang script is a vinyl decal that i got off flea-bay, its actually made for windshields..

and the runny pony was also found on e-bay, it was advertised to go on the headrest of leather or vinyl seats.

i have been thinking about getting the Katzskin interior for the new 05 we got last month as well.

Jessica,

That interior is AWESOME. That's what my dealer and I originally thought the ICAP to be when I ordered my car. I wanted charcoal leather with red ICAP INSERTS. I think that would've been great looking on a Mineral Grey. Since we later found out it wasn't I changed my order to cloth.

Thanks Mike... Doug (Burningman) did the chop for me.. I am using it for applying for sponsorships and project car ideas. If Ford at least offered ICAP in the body colors it would have been better... Like Sonic Blue, WV Blue, Screaming Yellow, Performance White. They only offer it in three colors, parchment (Which seriously, who would paint thier Mustang that?) black, and red.

I REALLY loved the idea of white ICAP, the same way it was done with the red, on a RedFire 05.

BRILLIANT! Sheer marketing genius. How great would that have been??? And to do an ICAP like your chop to match the exterior paint color.

I don't think I can add custom leather to mine now though on account I have side a/bags.

There was a thread awhile back about that. It can be done, you just have to find a shop who knows what they are doing...

I wish I knew someone high up at Ford, I would take my chop to them, with my idea of insert to match body color, or even just the option of inserts. You can then mix and match the inserts... red/white, blue/white (With white stripes on the body - SICK!) Black/blue, etc...

Then again, the older Stangs, the interior was completely colored... like the red on white verts they used to do. White on red was also big. Either way, if they just offered more colors it would have been genius.

Jessica, check out some of the leather dealers (Katskin, Custom) you can do those kinds of colors. If I order white/blue stipes, would I be crazy to do the same leather seats? Too ricey??????? Probably........

BlackHat, I think I saw on the diagrams for leather that you can do with side airbags......

OK, after spending the evening over on the photochop area. I found a few white/blue interiors. I really like, but what do you guys think of crazy color interiors. Would it get old, would it be too flashy/rice. How would you change out colors of non-seat areas (door panels, dash, etc)??

I have the parchment, and want to do the same thing, but I have side airbags, so I don't think the seats can be done, but the door panels can be swapped. Which panel exactly are you talking about anyway? Here is my interior.

i have been thinking about getting the Katzskin leather with blue inserts to match my blue stripes, but am also afraid of it looking too ricey/flashy and not looking good with the rest of the parchment(this for the 2nd 05 that i have)
