The only problem with installing the button in the center console is that it does not lock. This is a problem if you have a convertible because anyone could then pop open the trunk. If you have a convertible, the button should definitely be in the glove compartment and you need to lock the glove box when the top is down.

I never leave my top down if I stop for anything. Dinner, gas stations(if I'm going inside),stores. I don't like people being able to touch anything inside and I'm pretty sure a lot of people are that way. And it's really easy to install.
