Use your remote control and save yourself the headache.

I would do a search. Someone on the forum had a full write-up awhile ago. Or, you can get a wireless keyless entry keypad (the thing with the numbers), which is what I did. That way, you don't have to have your keys on you to get into the car. And, you don't have to worry about someone finding your release button.

There is a write up on this forum that I used to do mine. Basically, you need a small momentary button. I used radio shacks #275-646. You need to wire one pole of the switch to a chassis ground. There is a good one if you look behind the glove box. Splice the other pole of the switch to Pin 13 at connecter C2280c. C2280c is located on the backside of the smart junction box inside the passenger kick panel. It is the third connecter from the top. You will need to remove one nut from the bottom of the smart junction box and then push up to release it from its plastic mounts. I don't have access to my factory manual right now, but I believe the wire was white with a pink runner. once you trip the switch, it grounds that white wire and the trunk pops.

I honestly did this mod out of sheer boredom from being too broke to do any real mods. Believe it or not, it is more convenient than the key fob in some situations. Just be sure to hide the button well and in a place that it won't get accidentally tripped while driving.

I did this mod, I went to Ford and bought the same switch that the previous gen Mustangs used. It's also in the glovebox just like my previous Stangs.

The factory switch was 10 bucks. All you have to do is drill a hole in the glovebox panel just like the SN95 Stangs and snap the switch right in, it looks factory! When I get my car back from the body shop I'll take pix.

You could wire up a button similar to the Fusion.

Attachment 18857

The switch assemblies won't swap between the Fusion and Mustang but it kind of gives you an idea for placement of a button.

yeah i was thinking of going with a factory trunck release button and the write up that mike posted seems simple enough if i just use a wire tap and tap into the white wire, the only hurdle is drilling but like they say "check twice, drill once"

I have a keypad and don't even carry my FOB anymore. It would be nice to have a trunk release inside the car.
