Well, when the phone button is pressed, nothing happens. The radio still plays.

From what I have read, the phone button will do nothing unless an aftermarket bluetooth kit is installed to the radio. Even then, the button is not supposed to do anything directly. It pretty much will just show that the option is there for auto muting the radio when a bluetooth phone call comes in, with an aftermarket bluetooth kit is installed to it.

The little removable panel is to gain access to adjust the parking brake.

The phone button on mine mutes the audio system. If using in the CD mode it pauses the CD and plays where it left off when you press the button again.

It does that on the shaker 500 in my 2005 F-450 too.

But on my 2008 GT500 and 2008 Bullitt the button does nothing other than display "no phone" on the shaker 500 display.

Dude..I have the same car you have...same color, 08, CS, factory Nav with all options....

The Phone button mutes the radio..if yours doesn't, its not working right. If you look in the Nav Manual, that button is even listed as MUTE button

I'm not doubting yours works as a mute button as others have reported the same thing. Others besides me that also have the button have also reported that it does nothing for them as well.

By the looks of your mod list, you've had yours a lot longer than me unless you modded real fast. If that's the case, my radio is newer and changes happen. My build date is 02/28/08. What is yours?

As for the manual, it's a phone button. I have attached the page from my nav manual as proof. No mention of mute. Also, on the back page of my manual it states it is the first printing... January 2008. Another sign of recent changes.

So, while it may mute your radio if you press it, mine will do nothing but will mute automatically when a compatible blute tooth kit is installed to the radio.

Any updates on Sync for the 09 MY?

I am thinking about an '09 and wonder if anyone has a pic of the actual setup for the '09 MY? Just wondering since 09 Job 1 is getting close...

Thanks in advance

My build date is 13 Aug 07....so I guess just like the heads being changed half way through the MY...the radio features could have also... kinda sucks though if they did. I use my phone/mute all the time...comes in really handy

This is a photo of the actual Sync pad that will attach to the interior of the vehicle.

Wow... it looks like a computer mouse that got it's tail caught in the seam of the dash panel fit... Look how attractive it is to have that wire sticking out making the dash panel bulge outward creating a distorted gap. That location is a no. I'd rather have it stored in the console and pull it out when I am ready to use it.

If Ford was really clever they could have developed a RH steering wheel trim with extra buttons for this feature that uses RF controls so it wouldn't be necessary to run wires at all.

No, if Ford were smart they'd make the pad communicate via bluetooth and have no wires. How hard would that be?

Sync is only supported by Ford for the standard stereo systems such as the regular cd player, shaker 500 and 1000. That is the actual sync pad, it just looks similar to the mobile ease kit.

Will they have sync with the next nav system? Does it include usb? Anyone considered retrofitting one from a focus?

I personally would love full sync as in the other ford models. If this does not pan out, I will install a carputer and call it a day and have more features than sync. Ford should seriously think about making it standard across the board, if the stinken focus gets it, then why not the more expensive counterpart, the mustang?

OK, July 2008 is almost here, what's the good word on this system? Vaporware? Impending reality?

My 2005 with Shaker 1000 - compatible?

New law here in CA next month that bans holding your phone to your head while you drive. I don't like those idiot earpieces - tried out Sync in a new Edge and it ROCKS! Therefore, I want it! I don't care about the voice commands - I only want it for its hands-free capability.

What's the good word?

Pioneer has just released three stereos, all with navigation, that will do virtually everything sync does. It works in our cars and the retail prices start at less than $800. It has ipod controls, satellite radio, weather service, navigation, Bluetooth all built in and all voice controlled. A good alternative???

I am really confused about all the info on Sync for the Mustang. From the info I gather it won't be available for retrofit on the 08 and earlier models... No one should have to buy a new car to get the feature. It's also unforgivable that the legendary and iconic Mustang is the LAST to be fully integrated with the feature.

Maybe investigating other manufacturers that sell complete drop in head units is the best alternative. I want Bluetooth for my phone and iPod capability. I am tired of hauling and changing CD's around when I want to listen to something.

After checking Partscheap's website I have arrived at the conclusion that the Sync they were talking about is Vaporware.

I just uploaded the Sync kit to the site. Although it is not what was originally announced to us by our Accessory Rep. It will work on 09 Mustangs without nav. If you have nav it may work, but you will not be able to talk to the computer. 08 Mustangs Job 2, may work with the regular stereo's, and the same possibility with nav without voice recognition. The only actual supported vehicle is the 2009 Mustang without Nav. The others are unconfirmed reports from the Ford engineer who has told me "it might work" but i cannot provide any surefire facts on if it will work or not.
