Show me your gauge pods?
I am looking for a console gauge pod for my car but I am undecided. I was thinking of something like the shelby one.
Preferably one that I don't have to drill holes in the dash for.
Any ideas and thoughts?
Please post pics if you have them.

Here's a couple of pictures. The first one is an old one when I had the CDC on the dash and the vent pods , the CDC overlaps the A/C vent so the wires go through there and there is no drilling. The second picture is the current one I have and is the SOS panel , you can get the gauges on either the top or bottom ...
There is also this one by Speed of Sound. I like that the gauges are canted toward the driver, for easier viewing. You can get a drill or no drill center dash pod.

auto gaugesAuto Meter's Air/Fuel Gauge Rebate is in effect now until October 31st, 2010. During this time all approved Auto Meter Air/Fuel Instrument purchases from participating retailers are qualified for cash back rebates up to $60!
Thats fine, however I am not looking to remove my hvac controls. Not to mention the gauges would be too low to be useful for anything except dyno tuning.
However regarding the sos pillars, it seems the cobalt series of gauges match pretty well with the stock stuff. Not bad at all. As for the pods themselves, I may put one of those on the bottom of the pillar so I can have my A/F gauge on there to keep an eye on things.

Don't think gauge layout in my car would be of interest, but post for comparison between the tasteful gauge layouts posted above and my car's practical for racing, but ugly and "let's use a bigger hammer" approach.
This is old pic before present build when interior was gutted again but gauges are same. Interior looks a whole lot worse now with plain metal seats and no carpet, no sound system, no a/c....just big gaping holes where all that stuff used to be....lol

Hey guys
Did you do the installs yourselves? I'm leery of drilling into the dash and heard it's a pain to get the Saleen in correctly. It also doesn't seem deep enough for my Ford Racing Auto Meter gauges.
Any advice??

My Nexus gauges were too long for the Saleen pod. I simply made a paper template and carefully trimmed a recess with a dremel under the Saleen pod on each side so the rear of each gauge can nestle below the dash surface (hey, once you start drilling holes, what's a couple more
)I REALLY like the Saleen setup because once it's in, it looks totally factory, not like an add-on.

I'm not either
To each his own, I had a dash pod and the reflection off of the windshield was not something I care to deal with again.
I did my install myself. Doing the Saleen pod is not difficult *IF* you have one tool: A small 90 degree drill. You can't use a standard drill because the windshield gets in the way. I picked up a cheapie 90 degree air powered drill for about $20 at Harbor Freight
