Shaker500 to Shaker1000 swap?

It is a very involved retrofit. Requires significant rewiring or a change in harness. Much easier to add aftermarket amp and woofer. For all the trouble and cost, it is not worthwhile.

totally agree, i really like the shaker 500. for all the headaches of splicing and all i think an aftermarket trunk sub/amp would be a much better choice. I however am just sticking to the 500. To answer your actual question though. it sounds like the install is very complex, lots of running wires through the car. I beleive the shaker Head Unit from an 06 can run the aux in on the 07.

Is there any differance between the 500 and 1000 head unit or is just silk screening. my aunt has a ford five hundread and she has the same radio but it doesn't have any silkscreening on it

honeslty i dont know, i would think that you are right and that it is the same unit, with different lettering on it.

The units are programmed differently. Some are physically different in that they are missing the connections but many are just programming. Either way, the S500 will not drive the S1000 harness/amsp/speakers. Much easier to add an aftermarket enclosure that is fit to the mustang trunk and an aftermarket amp. They are easily wired into the S500 system. Low level sound, and remote turn on signals are both present in the S500 system.

I received part of the harness from the trunk foward. it has 2 red wires that i was going to tap the fuse box for and like you said two low level sound wires for left and right channel.

Scosche, see it at Crutchfield. Crutchfield was the only place I found that sold it without the Scosche woofer which is pretty cheap. I installed a Blaupunkt that I am very pleased with in the Scosche enclosure.

I did the MTX w/AMP from Crutchfield. Fits in the trunk perfectly and looks like it belongs there. Took about an hour or two to install (I also did Dynamat at the same time).
If you are looking for an easy install, the MTX is it. And in my opinion, sounds good with the stock Shaker 500 in the Mustang.
