Shaker Update
So are we to assume that cars coming off the lines in the past month or so have the "B" Shaker system? Beacuse I will flip if my CD's start skipping right off the bat. My '02 Stang had a problem with the discs getting stuck, don't want a repeat.

Well, I do have an A at the end of the test. Should I be worried, I haven't had problems at this point?

Disconnected the battery and reconnected it to reset the tranny, but Shaker 500 button lights no longer illuminate when headlights are on. Dealer said it was because I disconnected battery and needs to be reprogrammed(?). Radio/CD works fine. Ran self test, found I had the Series A model and that the test failed with code B2477. Any ideas? Thanks.
The Shaker stereo's have an electronic module built into them. That code means the unit isn't programmed. That can only be done with Ford's equipment.
I'm having some of the same issues a few of you others have been experiencing, spitting out discs, fast forwarding, skipping songs, starting songs over, etc. I'll have to get mine replaced too.

Thanks for posting this thread April. And kudos to Jeb also for the self test. I could not find this in the owner's manual. My Shaker's working flawlessly & the test showed I ended in B. It really gives me some peace of mind. Folks like you 2 make this site the best.
I got my car in the beginning of this month and I havent yet checked if it is a or b, but will. Regardless it is skipping and such so a new unit is on it's way for me. I will be sure to check to make sure it is a B at that point, thanks for the info!!!

April - here's a question no one has hit yet - does the series B do away with that annoying instant space insertion between songs??.......

Pause still there, and breif, but it no longer cuts off the end of the song before.
If this has already been answered in this thread or another I apologize for asking again. Does this information apply to the Shaker 1000 as well? I have a Shaker 1000 that skips when playing CDs. Has since new. Performed the diagnostic procedure and mine is an "A' unit. My vehicle was built on 1/12/05. If anyone knows please post the answer. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the info on the self test - I had forgotten about that neat little feature. Mine ends in an "a" but it says "Passed test" so I'm OK for now....although it does on occaision skip when playing CD's - if it doesn't get worse then I'm happy with it as it is pretty rare that it skips.
That's what I get too, HOTLAP. I am curious whether the stupid space between songs is gone with the B Shaker system. I hate that. If it does solve that, I'm going to just bite the bullet and drive all the way back to the dealer during the work week and have them replace it. I can't stand to have somethign out of whack. Thanks for the info April.
have asked my dealer about the number that appears during the self test. mine has the problems and my number ends in "G". so, they might have to remove tha unit to verify it is an "A". then again if it doen't work it must be an "A". i will try to call him monday, it might be late with a post because we are going to get snow (plowing).

The only thing still wrong is the pause in continuous track cds. I only have the two (pink floyd the wall and dark side of the moon) and rarely listen to them straight through.
NO complaints with playing though. I keep adding to my CD collection just to listen(fm bad and I don't have the ***** for XM in the mustang)
I am wondering if this has anything to do with Compression in the menu though? I have mine set to "off"
