Well I just had a new headunit installed.

Shaker Series A- electronics inside misfire causing rewind, skip and ejections.

Replace with Shaker Series B- new unit replaces series A and addresses all the issues.

Its working now. I am content.

Excellent!

Please keep us updated!!!

(and on the paperwork, they actually call the headunits two different 'series'?... the A and the B?...)

Well I was out shopping for a truck, so instead of sitting in the lounge(which I hate) I asked the stereo installers about it while I was bored.
They said: This is series B, which replaces the faulty units originally installed in the 05 mustangs and 500s. Ford is apparently aware the shaker 500 is a pile of crap, and has replaced it with an updated headunit that has not leetle gremlins. Thats why it took me over a month to get mine- I ordered a replacement the first week of January.

so, are new Mustangs coming off the line now equipped with Shaker Series A or B? Is there a way to tell when someone takes delivery?

Thanks for the updated info April. Hopefully they are putting the new one in the cars coming off the line. I'll try to find out when my car gets here.

Well I guess there is something good about not having my car built yet. Hopefully all the new cars will have the new radio.

Of course that is assuming that I ever get the car!!!

I know I am pleased......I got pink Floyd to play finally.
I got I shot the Sheriff by Clapton not to spit back to the beginning in the middle
and it now WILL play Led Zeppelin 3, which used to say screw it and kick to the next disc.

Like I said, Ford is apparently aware of it. What I didn't know is the screw up affected the F500 also.

I haven't heard a word about replacement. Mine went bad first week of November. My dealer supposedly ordered a replacement, but they are not very proactive - - probably the poster child for why Ford is having problems.

I replaced my HU, anyways. I just want to get the unit to sell, or change out down the road.

Is there somewhere you can look on the unit to see if its a 'B' or 'A' series? I would assume on the back somewhere, but hopefully it'd be tagged somehow that you wouldn't have to remove the trim to see.

Or....I guess...play a tons of CDs and find out that way.

Great Info April! At least Ford is addressing some things with FIXES (referring to auto-down feature on windows).

turn your head unit on and set it to fm/am and hold down "3" and "6" at the same time. it will do a self test, at the end there is a set of numbers and letters. don't know if this helps or not.

Thanks April! I was concerned about the issues with the Shaker 500.

I was even thinking about just getiing an after market stero, but they cost too much to have what you get with the Shaker 500. :bang:

It's good to see that the Shaker 500 is back on track!

Yup, mine ended in "ga." I knew I only a few gremlins. But now that I know about the "A" and "B" series, and I have some extra time, I can bring it to the dealer.

If you all replace your gremlin riddled shakers- be sure to demand a B. Then do the test and see if the test # ends in B.
I ordered my new one long ago, and it finally arrived. Its PRIMO I have listened to it since 7:30 am this morning, and nary a problem.

They did all kinds of nuts crap- hooked her up to the diagnostic computer and everything. I am VERY happy. I love my ford dealer.

While I was waiting- I took her to the HUGE car dealer I hate just to see..They basically told me I was full of it. Hence reason 763 I hate them.

Did you just call your dealer and they told you that? Is that how you found out? I'm curious if I can call the dealer and get this put on soon. My is playing CD's but they skip some and jump to the next track on and off. It's annoying. So honestly, you haven't had any trouble since the new install? Thanks for the info.

Hey April, I've had my car since early January and have the Shaker 1000. I have had no real problems. Is it just a 500 thing or did I get lucky? Thanks.

Music is my life- so when my shaker broke, I raised Hades daily....
I ordered my new one in Early January, and it came in last Wednesday.

After it was installed I asked the stereo guy if it would happen again- thats when he explained about series b..

Do that self test a few posts up, My numbers end in B.

And its Frigging great- no issues at all, I have listened to nothing but Cds, and not a skip, or reject or rewind or cut off since then!
